Spring/Summer plans and/or trips lined up?

I will have NOTHING like Hook's trip in the works... but...

So far, this month I am traveling up to the N. Platte near Casper to fish with my dad.

AND.... I just found out today... In April my uncle is paying for guides & boats on/near THE MILE on the Platte. All I was told I have to do is "show up".

    ME = STOKED.

Also in April I am taking a fly tying class from a local guide.

Not sure yet what the rest of the summer holds for me... hopefully I can hit some spots with some of you guys if it works out...

^^ Looks like a nice agenda! I'm thinking of taking a weekend over at the Mile too.

My tentative Spring plans, however, are rapidly slipping away from reality.

A pregnant Wife and a switch in jobs/companies has pretty much busted all my Spring daydreams. Maybe a weekend out of this valley. ???

Can't really bitch too much though... I'll get plenty of days in on the Snake, South Fork, Henrys Fork, and others within a couple hour drive.

I still think we outta plan a fishing summit. Of course I will only be able to come for a day or 2.

Besides my normal day trips to spots in NJ NY CT I might do a couple weekend trips to Lancaster County PA. I am really stoked for the road trip to Rocky Mountain National Park and Yellowstone that my girlfriend and I have planned for the middle of July. It will be primarly a hiking, sightseeing, camping road trip but I am sure there will be plenty of chances to make a few casts to some native cuts!

Any beta on some not so crowded spots to try in RMNP, Yellowstone, and between?

Get a good YNP map and pick a couple streams to walk in to. Then get the appropriate quads and check the elevation drop of the streams you plan to hit. Scout out a route, trail or off trail, in/out. AND, make sure you read the YNP fishing regs throughly. Some waters are permanently closed and others start the season in mid july.

You can't go wrong walking into just about any river or lake in the Park. Plenty of fishing within a hundred yards of the roads too.

1st trip: girlfriend's dad will be in town again and said to look into guides for the weekend of april 19-20, so I think we're pulling out all the stops on this one. Suggestions?

2nd: May 8th-11th in St.Petersburg, FL. Plan to wade around looking for snook and redfish until I am red as a lobster!

3rd: mid-august backpacking with a friend for 3-4 days in the Pagosa area...hope to find some native cuts

all summer: backpack and 4-wheel all over central colorado trying to find trout dumb enough to eat what I'm throwing!

    ISP21-

Depends on where you're fishing. Small streamer patterns for still water. Standard attractors, (nymphs and dries), will be fine for most of the hike-in streams. Some caddis emergers and adults too. It really depends on where you go in YNP. Could have some mayfly hatches too

I have a friend who just moved to Grand Isle, LA so I will be making alot of weekend trips to chase reds and specs. Afternoons will be comsumed with redneck backwoods bass fishing at the lake 15 minutes from my house. I will probably go get after some rainbow trout some weekends. I also have a few trips planned for the gulf coast, a couple of offshore trips, and maybe some inshore tourney's. It's not so convenient for a poor mother fucker like me to get out west to ski alot, but I'm pretty damn close to some great fishing.

April/May- Ice off in Eastern Utah.

    June/July-Bristol Bay, AK

Aug-Usually chukking flies at something running off the beach in the San Juans and visiting the parents.

I think a September/Oct summit would be cool.

YNP - walk into Pelican Creek. Great views and you WILL see animals. Be prepared to take long detours around bison. And watch for bears. But there are some great cuts in that water.

Spend the money to get a guide to go after redfish (red drum) on the Gulf. I know it can be expensive, but you won't be disappointed.

Good advice for anyone. We have one captain we always go out with and fish Hopedale/Delacroix. They're out of Breton Sound Marina. My friend who lives there has been catching a ton of fish out of Grand Isle and Venice. The only shitty part about the trips to LA without a guide is that the non-resident lisences are stupid expensive. I'm new to TGR but my second passion is fishing so expect some decent non hill billy Alabama fishing TRs.

Welcome J! I lived in Texas for a spell and had a great time fly fishing for largemouth. Tons of fun!

I'm really upset. I can't believe you are going to have this much fun. I'm lucky to escape to YNP for a couple long weekends.

    Damn nice AKPM!

Flying the 170 into Johnson Creek for the annual backcountry pilot.org fly-in in late June. Taking my old man and our fly rods, so will probably fish the creek and maybe some lakes up north. I have to keep it fairly low-elevation as I can't get into a lot of those strips with the good fishing in my underpowered plane.

Star-thistle paragliding fly-in at Woodrat Mtn in southern Oregon Memorial Day wknd.

    That's it for the plans.

Count me in for the fishing summit.

72 twenty, I saw your post about coming to Fl. I'm not there year round anymore but I live in New Smyrna Beach these days. It's just south of Daytona Beach. The surfing is 9 minutes from my front door and the Indian river Tarpon and Redfish spots are about 25 minutes. Shout when your heading down.

Schwerty, Don't you need some saltwater material for your Mag? Bring your flyrod.

I might actually fish on Saturday. I can't ski because I need to stay home with my daughter part of the day while the wife does some stuff, so I might hit the Big Laramie in the mid-afternoon to evening.

I'd like to get out to Jellystone again - had some fan-fucking-tastic Cutt fishing a couple years ago with a 2-3 hours walk in.

Probably some local streams + rivers.

When the hell did you move? New Smyrna is better than Ft Myers, that's fo sho. Maybe not fishing wise. You guys do get those monster Snook and larger limits, though.

Maybe too late but take skis and ski Super Gully. I have skied it twice and it was a blast both times.
