    WTB Raft, need advise

I'm looking at purchasing a raft for Colorado Rivers. I fish the Arkansas, Roaring Fork and Gunni on a regular basis. I have ruled out a drift boat.

    Requesting advise...

    What size raft?
    What are the best makes?
    Frame setup and add-ons?
How much money should I expect to pay?

What is the best way to learn how to row?

    Thanks for your help.

There are many answers to these questions.

Call Ron at Riverboat Works in Salida. www.riverboatworks.com

He will get you dialed in for those rivers. Don't base your decision on the website....he prolly has more used boats in his shop and is a dealer of Hyside boats if your looking to go the new route. They build incredible frames! Give it a shot.

The best way to learn to row is to row in front of an experienced oarsman /angler a lot.

    my .02 anyway.

Thanks for the Link. I will give Ron a call.

I would imagine that a few anglers out there would be willing to show a novice oarsman the ropes if they get to fish the whole time.

First, I need to get a vessel

I've taught a lot of people to row. Fishing while a novice is behind the oars and trying to teach at the same time doesn't work. Take out someone with experience and buy them booze and party favors. Fishing will be opportunistic...at least the first time most rivers if you don't have experience. You'll need to learn how to safely row first, then how to row to catch fish...many people seem to forget to learn the later.

Edit: If you buy a rig from Ron and make plans ahead, (and ask nicely), he might float a stretch of the Ark with you?????
