What is your favorate resort in Tahoe?

    Hi everyone,

I live in california and I go to tahoe all the time. I just want to know what is everyone's favorate resort.

In my opinion, I prefere going to northstar. I been to most of them, but northstar is my favorate. I really love some of the long ride down and they also have a skating ring for anyone who does not like skiing.

Just want to see what everyone's opinion.

I will stick with the all time best all around resort. And, the kids will agree, Boreal is the best resort in CA.

You should try Shasta. Not technically Tahoe - but it is worth the drive.

Oh yeah, avoid the lift service terrain.

I much prefer a "hillside sheltered by fir trees". Go Granlibakken or don't go at all.

i disagree totally. i'm trying to convince certain corporations to restore the old lift on the Hilltop by the Cottonwood. sick terrain, with downtown Truckee within walking distance...don't even need to take off the boots.

I skied at Tahoe for years, I live in San Francisco, then after one particularly lovely drive up on a Friday night that took 9 hours I decided that was enough.

Now, I go to San Francisco Air Port, get in a plane and fly to SLC, I take Alta Shuttle up to the Rustler and ski at Alta. I leave all my gear there, which the wonderful folks at the Rustler look after for me, and I DON'T GET STUCK ON HIGHWAY 80 FOR NINE FUCKING HOURS ANY MORE!!! (flame off)

My serious suggestion is that if you don't have to drive up there on Fri nights and down on Sun evenings, then Tahoe is fine - I like Squaw the best. But, if you're skiing there and doing it on weekends, your nuts. It is literally 3.5 hours from my front door in SF to the front door of the Rustler and on Southwest it cost about what it costs me in gas to take my Suburban to Tahoe.

well then you should get a fkn geo metro and stop bitching. and the only people that go to squaw are dudes whose wives wear fuzzy boots, foux fur, and have fake tits. (and by no means am i suggesting that fake tits are a bad thing)

but now that everybody is talking up 'Bakken, that one lift is gonna be slammed next good groomer day.

I have only been to Tahoe once, but it was an epic trip probably five or six years ago. We skied all the resorts around the area, but we hit a truly epic day at Mt. Rose. There were no lines and the powder was up to the knees. We were getting first tracks down the Chutes all morning and then headed over and did some gladded runs skiers right of Zephyr? chair. The Chutes are pretty damn fun and there are some fun cliff drops in there (I was young so not that high).
