why aren't there more match play tournaments?
this is so much more exciting than stroke

Tough to watch live...golf tourneys are some of the most attended sporting events, and match doesn't compare to stroke play for those that pay for tickets. Instead of seeing the whole field come thru, you only get to see a handful of guys...especially on sunday.

Great to watch on TV, though...

no the real question is why aren't more weekend hackers playing match play instead of stroke

If everyone played match play MAYBE we could do something about the pace of play since after you yanked your drive 150 yards offline into the forest on the right, then dribbled 2 shots up to the green you could concede the hole when your opponent was on the green inside of 10 feet in 3.

It also might help some of the guys who stalk a 4 footer for 15 minutes then proceed to 3 jack it for a 10.

Amen brother. Losing my shit on the 15th tee waiting for the dumbfucks to find their 175 yard drives in the fucking rye grass doesn't do much for the score.

I think the cost of golf probably prevents more match play...

The benefit of country club and midweek golf. Golfing on the weekends is way worse that skiing at a resort on the weekends...I have completely given up on it.

I am also to the point where I will hit into a slow group without mercy if they are way behind their time. Adds an adreneline rush to the game...

if you can take advantage of them.

you get to see everyone play on thursday

Don't knock the RHI, or whatever it was called. Badass AHL players with no way to stop themselves.
VS is all bullriding, all day. Golf could be a step up for them.
