Sorry to hear that. Think of it as a long dryland training period, I guess.

Hey, I'm skiing like normal without an ACL--tore in August but only realized it was torn after the scope a month later. By that time I knew I'd miss the majority of the season if I had reconstruction then, so I put it off just to see how things would go. I can't do a lot of things, and even walking around is bad at times, but skiing is fine.
At this point, you might as well give it a shot (being careful of course).

That sucks. Heal up fast. My buddy tore his ACL back in the first week of January and goes under the knife the end of this month. Don't feel bad that your season is over, so is mine. I dislocated and broke my hip last week! Talk about a real fucking bummer!

Visibility sucked today, I was wearing dark goggles (the only ones I currently own), I went ripping down collins and hit a car sized mogul that I couldn't see which sent me flipping. Not the most glorious way to go out, but it done me in.

Blurred- no I never did find that District, but the boys at Bluehouse are hooking me up with one

    Bigdump- yes this is true

Dexter- I tried to ski down, but my knee collapsed while trying to make the first turn. I think I fucked it up good.

Everyone- thanks for the encouraging words and positive vibes, you guys kick ass I'm going to keep working at the Snowpine until the season ends, which means I'll have plenty of time for physical therapy during the day.
All I know is that I don't know nothin'... and that's fine.

Don’t feel bad, mine was way more stupid & far less glorious than that. Where I ski used to slack about dropping ropes on a powder day. We were ducking them & finding good snow. Came in real hot & noticed the rope late. Basically did a limbo smear turn under the rope. POP, done.

Take rehab seriously, you’ll be fine. Best of luck.

Just make sure you stick with the rehab. I blew my ACL, MCL, and meniscus sp? TOSH fixed me up good and purty and the hot PT's made going to therapy easy. And 4 years later my ACL leg is as strong if not stronger then my good one. Good luck dude.

I tore mine this year on 11/23 and I felt the same way. Completely defeated and utterly depressed. I was skiing on 1/6 with a brace at about 90%. Seriously--talk to your doc, get into see a PT, get a brace if you have good insurance. Do the whole RICE thing right now. You maybe back. My surgery isnt until April 7--I plan to have a nice march! My only issues are after skiing--my legs are really sore (because I tore mine day 1 of season and never got my ski legs back) and my knee gets swollen. It takes 3-4 days of icing and rest for it to feel good enough to ski again. Good luck!

I was able to "ski" side slip down. My doctor said that he thinks I may have had a partial tear for years and had become used to it a little. Just rest it right now, stay off of it and do some PT--It will feel better in a few weeks and you maybe able to ski. I could have skied before 1/6--i was waiting for the brace and the x-mas crowds to leave. If you know anyone who has a cryo-cuff--borrow it! I lucked out finding one and its a godsend!

Heal up fast. Been there done that. It sucks but you can be back on them next year for sure.

The doctor said I tore my MCL as well, so I think I'm done for a while. I can barely walk, even with a straight brace on.
All I know is that I don't know nothin'... and that's fine.
