I find it depressing that the Dems tossed Richardson under the bus.

A governor who was a former ambassador to the UN, has experience in the Middle East, is pro-choice, pro-gun, is a Latino. and has a concealed pistol permit?

And of course they trash him. How stupid.

An Obama-Richardson ticket would have my attention, though.

No, that was deserved...I'm an idiot.

I think that conservative Christians will not vote for McCain if there is a Jewish dude on the ticket with him.

Truly conservative Christians are ALL FOR the resurrection of the second Jewish Temple, as part one towards the Rapture.

Very true, no person is an angel. You can learn more from how someone has dealt with mistakes than from their successes.

    Good C-n-P....

"George W. Bush's overall job approval rating has dropped to a new low in American Research Group polling as 78% of Americans say that the national economy is getting worse according to the latest survey from the American Research Group.

Among all Americans, 19% approve of the way Bush is handling his job as president and 77% disapprove. When it comes to Bush's handling of the economy, 14% approve and 79% disapprove.
Among Americans registered to vote, 18% approve of the way Bush is handling his job as president and 78% disapprove.

That is just mind-blowing. How does it compare to other presidents? There's no comparison.

Nixon, as he was hounded out of office in August 1974, never dipped below the mid-20s.

Here's a pretty good compilation of poll numbers from Roper. To summarize the highlights:

Clinton low: 36 percent, May 1993 (early missteps like Zoe Baird)

George H.W. Bush low: 29 percent, August 1992 (recession)

Reagan low: 35 percent, January 1983 (recession)

Carter low: 28 percent, July 1979 (high gas prices)

Ford low: 37 percent, January 1975 (economy, Nixon pardon)

Nixon low: 23 percent, January 1974 (Watergate)

Johnson low: 35 percent, August 1968 (Vietnam)

Lowest ever? That would be Harry Truman during the Korean War, in February 1952, at 22 percent.

And so now George W. Bush has shattered a record that has stood for 55 long years, and there's not any one reason. It's everything, although I suspect that liberals would more likely say Iraq and torture, conservatives would say immigration and runaway spending, and everyone would now say the economy."

He hasn't done anything to build party unity, all he has done is build loyalty to Obama. If you look at the numbers, Hillary is beating obama when it comes to D's who have cast their ballots in this primary. Obama has won mightily on the I's.

Obama supporters need to realize what they are getting with him. They will not be getting a nominee who can define differences between the parties. Obama seemingly only mentioned “Republicans” in the context of reaching out to them, while letting their leaders off the hook, as if the last seven years of graft, corruption, and circumvention of the Constitution were bipartisan in origin. Obama aimed his attack not against the party which controlled Washington for the better part of this decade and which controlled Congress for the better part of the 1990’s. Rather, he aimed his critique against both parties and Washington as a whole, as if Democrats are equally culpable for the country’s problems. If tonight is any guide, Democrats will be getting a nominee who runs just as often against them as Republicans. They will be getting a nominee who shows little stomach for holding the Republican Party in general and John McCain particularly accountable for what they have done to this country. His campaign seemingly has an easier time carving up a female Democratic opponent than they do a Republican standard-bearer who represents Bush’s third term, and who questions Obama’s fitness for office.

This nonpolitical message may be the message that Obama’s Millions want to hear, and we can all pray that they show up and vote for him and the Democratic Party in November to offset the wave of motivated far right forces aligned against him, as well as the Indies and Latinos that McCain will pull from him. My main question Senator Obama is this: with the nomination almost in hand now, when does your message shift from being all about you and the movement towards a call for a Democratic government to right the wrongs from years of GOP harm?

    -soto
You want to know why? Because the Democrats have been fucking steamrolled by the Republicans.

Wake up! We don't like either party.

I think most Democrats vote D because they don't want to vote R, not because D's offer some sort of real option. The Democrats better wake up and start doing their jobs if they want to keep them. Especially the old guard. Start compromising and actually accomplish something that serves the interests to the American people.

It's total crap and I for one would like to see a new party created that actually operates in reality, not the fantasy land that the Democrats and Republicans seem to occupy.

Oh, and stop talking to us like we are fucking children.

Let me preface this by saying that Obama seems like a nice guy who probably really cares about the country. Maybe he would make a good president?!

I have no horse in this race (I really wouldn't care if Obama won) but if I hear Rootskier talk about Obama like a god again I think I'm gonna puke. Rootskier must have a crush on this guy. Has anybody been in Rootskier's room lately? I bet there's some crazy shrine in his room with Obama pictures everywhere including the ceiling like one of those psychos in the movies.

I seriously need to know Rootskier. Do you masterbate to this guys pictures?

If you listen to Obama speak all he says is the word 'change' and about 100 of it's synonyms over and over without ever really getting into substance. Whe he says 'change' I think everybody gets all giddy thinking Obama has their kind of change in mind.

He's obviously a great speaker but because he's so good he doesn't have to include any substance. When the actual election debates start he's going to actually talk about his ideas -- thats where things are going to get interesting.

Seriously, listen to him speak. He says 'change' every third word and rarely brings up specifics. Then all the braindead douches act like he's saying something revolutionary and different. It's sad and hilarious at the same time -- he doing a hell of a job convincing people he's going to 'change' the country and put it back on it's feet but 90% of the people that like him only know about a couple of beliefs at most.

Jesus Christ, how many times do I have to point out that that %19 statement (I'm not even sure if it was much of a scientific poll) on W from a poorly designed website does not constitute a reliable and unbiased approval rating. I listed all the reliable and respected polling groups and they all have him at around %33. But go ahead, go pull your data from MoveOn or WarResisters or whatever other crazy place you would like to.

What do you expect any of the candidates to do at campaign rallies when they are giving speeches? Get into intricate detail about there plans to reform healthcare? Indicate exactly which brigades of troops will be coming home from Iraq and when? Their economic stimulus proposal two years out?

Come on man. These people (Obama, Clinton and McCain) are giving speeches intended to rally people to their support. If they were to do what you are suggesting in a speech they would lose their audiences attention. The substance you speak of will and should come out in debates, interviews, etc. Not in a campaign rally.
