Been wanting to ski O'Sullivan Peak via the SW face for a long time. You can see it from certain places in town. It's large and in charge.
The start is in Tanners. Skin fast here, especially when the sun comes out. This place is creepy. Alto and Jtrue.
The sun comes up, and the frying pan is in full effect. Skin faster.
4,300ft later, Alto tops out Tanners.
Then head west up the steep and narrow east ridge of O'Sullivan. Alto, he likes plant life.
Dromedary behind Jtrue. The SW face of Drom is another excellent 4,500ft continous line. Great fun.
Quartzite boulder problem.
Longer than I remembered from the Tanners col. Drom SW face begging for tracks.
Jtrue.
As we topped out O'sully, some others came up the Maybird drainage. They were heading to Twin. Does it go?
Our initial intent was to ski the SW face, then we pussed out and wanted pow into Broads Fork. But...........alas.........we stuck to our guns.
Alto, 100ft down, 4900 to go.
Weeeeeeeeee.........
Alto and Lone Peak East Face in the distance.
Jtrue, skiing the spine of safety.
Jtrue carving the variable.
Crust, corn, and ................pow.
Off the face, and many, many turns to go. Jtrue.
Corn.
Not sure if Alto was looking at the "Y" Couloir, or the turns ahead of him.
Jtrue.
Jtrue's first outdoor rappel, second ever. Standing around looking for a rap anchor was kind of creepy, with all the huge terrain above, waiting to pulverize.
WTF are you doing here? Blurry goat. Saw a big moose too.
Praxis rock skiing.
Alto sequence.
ACL McTwist.
Going for the ride, down the 5.6 rock slabs?
Everyone survived. No goats or moose were harmed. We had fun.
Free shower.
