Ride the fence much?
No one likes to pay taxes but only right wing anti-tax zealots (see Grover Norquist) truly believe that wealth is created in a vacuum. The bottom line is a progressive tax structure helps secure the broad middle class necessary to promote a robust economy. Concentrate too much of your wealth in the hands of too few and you become stagnant and inefficient. Over two thirds of all economic activity in the US is generated from consumer spending, so do you think cutting taxes on the rich and raising taxes on the working poor/lower middle class aka a “flat tax” will be able to sustain that reality? Sorry but we here in the US already tried the oligarchy/Robber Baron era thing and all we got to show for it was this lousy t-shirt…and the great depression!
