The first time I layed eyes on Scot Schmidt sending the Palisades in Warren Miller's "Ski Country", I knew I would be a skier the rest of my life. It's wierd in a certain way to have a life altering epiphany at the age of three. (I first watched in '86). Ever since seeing Scot Schmidt do the seemingly impossible, I always dreamed of being in a Warren Miller film.
Well tomorrow I embark on that dream. Yes, Warren Miller is not the most cutting edge, progressive or "cool" film company, but I am fucking stoked to be filming with the film company that I've grown up watching. Tomorrow I fly out of SFO and meet up with Hugo Harrison and Chris Anthony in Bozeman, Montana for 10 days of filming with Tom Day, Flip McCrick and the rest of the WM crew. Every time I wake up in the morning and bang my head on the wall just to make sure that this is real. (I also bang my head on the wall cause I have mild symptoms of mental retardation)
Just when I thought my season was over. Tahoe is more dust than snow and I've been kiteboarding the last two weeks. But lo-and-behold just when I was about to finally give in to summer I get a call from WM and my sponsors saying that I'm flying out on Monday for ten days of skiing in Montana. I was jumping up and down for a solid ten minutes.
Then more details came and it just got better. Big Sky is opening the tram solely for us. Heli's are going to be dropping us off on a multitude of peaks. Snowmobiles will be carting us around. And we'll be spending one or two nights camping out near Fisher lakes. I don't know about you, but to me that sounds like a pretty fucking sick time.
This truly a dream come true, and I'm coming into the trip with the mindset that this may never happen again so I'm gonna savor every single moment of the next 10 days. Once again I'm gonna say that I am fucking stoked
Somebody is gonna have to bitch slap this perma-smile off my face.
I'll try to take as many pictures as possible and will try to have some trip reports posted here over the next couple weeks.
