Hillary and Obama on 60 minutes.

Did anyone watch this? I didn't see it mentioned.

Obama came off cool, confident, and Presidential. Every answer was right on the money, even the tough ones. No sidestepping the questions, he took them head on. If there were any fluffy softball type questions, I didn't notice them.

Hillary was thrown softballs by Katie Couric. They giggled together, and spent the entire time talking about Obama. At one point, she re-asked the same question three times, just in case we missed it. Another time, she giggled," I knew you would say that,he he he."
It was quite possibly THE single worst interview I have ever seen. It not only made Katie look stupid, but also made Hillary look weak. Katie is not a very good interviewer.

Once again, I feel let down. Hillary surely has some good things to say. To spend 15 minutes explaining to us why she is not feeling threatened by Obama's success, makes me think she is threatened by his success. That interview made her look pathetic and a bit unstable.

    Flame away?

To be fair, I felt that Katie's questions led Hillary to focus on the threat Obama poses - she didn't dwell on it on her own.

I agree that Obama came off much better.

I thought both segments were illuminating - it is so much more effective to watch them interviewed one on one than to see them do their stump speech in front of supporters waving signs.

I totally agree with Warthog. I think that Katie Couric has no business interviewing Clinton (or anybody more socially relevant than Dr. Phil) if that is how she is going to conduct the interview.

Obama recieved questions that pertained to the issues directly, he even took a question on why he has been getting criticism for ducking the issues (paraphrasing) and responded by asking to talk about any issue based questions 60 minutes had. He was direct, confident, and upfront with problems he saw and solutions he would propose. he didn't duck any questions, even about his timetable for removal of troops in Iraq.

Clinton talked about a nice photograph of herself with Obama's family that she had in her office, and as you said, spent the majority of her interview talking about how while Obama is a good man, a good senator, and a good democrat, she is not worried that he is better than her or threatened by the steam his campaign is picking up.

I was really looking forward to the interview as more of a scheduled debate, where candidates had a less pressure-filled situation to explain certain points of their platform in more detail. Instead, it showed how god awful Couric is at her job.

The only place for someone who interviews like she is writing the gossip column for a high school newspaper is The View. Even TMZ asks tougher questions. She should be fired.

you mean they might have hired Katie Couric for reasons other than her journalistic talents?

I didn't mean to imply that Hillary wanted that to be the focus. She probably didn't think she would be talking about eating hot peppers either. I think KC did her a serious injustice, if not a wealth of damage with that interview. Think of the 60 min. demographic. Older men and their wives, mostly. The wives may or may not be paying attention. That is not a sexist thing, it is a generational thing. I highly doubt young women are watching 60 min. on any regular basis, but they might have tuned in for this program. That said, I think the interview made her look silly to a demographic she is struggling to impress. I would be pissed after watching that shitshow, if I were Hillary.

Maybe they have an agenda. 60 minutes isn't exactly known for their impartial views on anything. If that interview was a product of the cutting room, Hillary should have a serious beef with the folks at CBS.
