    Prom

Well I went stag compleatly stag showed up fashionably late hurt my neck somehow a cool band played 60s dance music wich was way the hell better then retarten rap and this dude played like a 15 minute guitar solo got rejected a few times (by Ingrid and Thea, they must just like me for the rides to powder, losers ) that kinda sucked but oh well. Did slow dance a bit but it was kinda awkward as I get excited with so much as touching a chick and so embracing her for a few minutes was well interesting... Over a pretty fun night and my parents paid for everything so it cost me nothing. Got so hot and tired and sore I couldn't sleep last night.

any way here my in my Suit, and yes the buttoneer (sp?) is a fly

As much as going stag to prom must suck, it shows something. You've got courage and don't care too much about what others think (which can be good or bad).

You certainly don't see the paisley bow tie that often anymore.

Edit: maybe that's not paisley. Polka dots?

As you may have ascertained, proms are so fucking stupid. Usually they are the high point in the lives of people who go on to be very pathetic. You've seen what they are like, you have nothing to prove to a bunch of high school kids who know zilch (you included). Skip the next prom/dance/formal and get some girl to go do something real with you: camping, dinner and breaking some public property, a decent meal at a good restaurant minus the tuxedo bullshit, moonlight ski tour, whatever. You can do better than that guidance counselor planned event for the dipshit popular kids.
Or do like Bullet and fight, rabble, and show everybody that there's a lot more to life than one dumb night.

Couldn't you have just targeted the best looking woman in the house and attached yourself to her with the Bjorn Super Prawn?

Dude, IME going stag is not so bad.

We don't have any of that prom crap over here but I did once get invited to a very snooty all-girls boarding school leavers' ball. All my life I had dreamed of spending the night in a girls' school and it was about to come true.

I should have realised the way things were going when we arrived and there were dogs on the gates, having a good sniff at each car that came past and searching for booze (this at a ball for 17 and 18 yos, 18 being legal age ferfucksake...). Turns out the school had hired the local prison security guards to help keep "all the young men" under control.

It got worse. There was a TV crew there who were making a film a documentary about etiquette and they had been following my date for the last month and would follow her all that night. ABout the date - she really wasn't as hot as I remebered (and I didn't know her that well), she basically looked very, very young (no personalities developing at all) and sort of acted it as well. So I decided that I wasn't going to be getting any nookie and tried to just have a good time.

Anyway, it became extremely clear very early on that her and her friends had been building up how amazing the whole thing was going to be and what an amazing time they would have with their dates. Heck, if I'd been stuck in an isolated girls' school with only my electric toothbrush for company I would have been excitred about it too.

To this day I have no idea what I did wrong. It seemed cool at first (during the big ass champagne reception ) then she got all frosty. There was a big sit-down dinner - and I spent the whole time talking to her friend on the other side of me. I tried really hard but it seemed I had really pissed her of or something.

Luckily after dinner I ran into a bud from my old school (hadn't seen him for five years) who was in a similar situation and equally confused so we got drunk together. Last thing I remember was climbing up the big tent the thing was in and falling off it. Not too sure what happened but my clothes were ripped. I think I might have thrown another buddy into the school pool in his nice dinner jacket. He wouldn't have minded (he would have done it to me if he had thought of it first) but none of the girls were that impressed apparently.

Needless to say the TV footage was absolutely frickin hilarious. If she was pissed off with me before she was apparently ready to kill me after the party. Fortunately it was only broadcast on a local network, no where near where I or any of my friends live.

Anyway, AKPM, I think you did alright with your situation.

Only bummer is that the date turned up at my university a few years later and, well, she's mighty fine now with quite the gravity-defying orbs.

edit: and she hasn't talked to me since the party.

My junior prom date took some pain killers an hour before the limo picked her up. That was followed by some champagne at my friend's house and drinks in the limo. By the time we got to the prom, she was trashed. She stumbled out of the limo in front of our dean who was filming the whole thing, and then slapped me across the face. It was hysterical to watch the next week on video. Of course, the slap was followed by more slaps inside the prom, followed by her passing out in the girls bathroom, followed by more blows to my face throughout the night (I don't know how I ever composed myself - but I think I managed to block a fair amount of the slaps; she wasn't exactly quick). She had thought that I was the reason she was so messed up. I had nothing to do with but that didn't seem to make a difference for her.

The morale of this story - don't ever go out with a girl after she's taken pain killers and had copious amounts of booze.

The second moral of this story - proms are highly overrated. Nice work, akpm. Takes some serious courage to show up at prom stag. And I dig the fly.

no worries AKPM, I left my date @ the prom and left early to go home and sleep so I would have energy to race the next day in Districts. I didn't even stay till the last dance.

    Thumbs up

Mulletizer...I find your story highly amusing!

I never went to any of my proms and I have not regretted it.

But yeah AKPM, I give you credit for going solo. You probably had a better time than some of the guys with dates.

I skipped out on the prom until my senior year. I took this girl from another town who I barely knew. We actually ended up going out for a few weeks after, until she decided to start seeing my "Best Freind" behind my back. But on the positive side, the prom is when I started drinking.

Good call on using a fly for a boutonniere (thank you Google, there's no way I could have spelled that on my own). In real life (as opposed to high school world), being original counts for a lot.

    Prom, oh the memories......

Prom sucks, as mentioned before it's highly overrated and really isn't what I would in good conscience call fun.

I avoided mine for three years and took the girl I was dating for my Senior. Dialed it in, Limo, had a friend that was workign in a nice resteraunt reserve a great table and had it laid out with roses on arrival, etc. Went to the Dance portion, really loved the creative "under the sea" theme they came up with.
Remember what Marty's prom looked like in Back to the Future? Same thing, just no live music or soem skinny white kid jamming on the guitar.

Go to a party afterwards where I was immediately suckerpunched after walking into the door by a meathead whoI had less than friendly encounters with. Result, one torn borrowed suit jacket (borrowed from buddies Dad, which happened to be about $200 to replace) and I broke two fingers on my left hand smashing the jarhead. Girlfriend left all hacked off because I "continued to fight". Mind you he started the thing by grabing me by the jacket and cold-cocking me.

Long story short, sounds like you had a better time than most, superfical girls come and go, be yourself and you'll do well.
Skiing, where my mind is even if my body isn't.
