Any graphic designers / photoshop geeks???

Looking for a maggot who wants to create a logo for my little company, aka Flow Line Productions.

PM me if you are interested. I can't really pay much now. If there are alot of people interested we could do a little voting thread or something.

Hmmm... If it's going to turn into a contest (aka designing for free) there should at least be a cool prize.

Ok, let me think of some kind of prize. If I had any possibility of making money I would put up a pair of skis or something for the prize. But my cash flow is just not there right now.

Sounds like a video production company eh? Bet TGR didn't plan on people using their forums to encourage competition. I like the name though.

    Timeline?

Background = what is it about? / target audience of company?

I am a HS teacher and could offer it up to my students as extra credit ~ some of them are absolutely phenomenal with CS3.

PM or post all the info and I can check with the students to see if they are interested. (No promises though as it is busy around here right now)

Its for a ski film/video production company.

Target audience is basically all people who enjoy stoke in the forms of hucking and skiing powder.

That would be way cool mn_teleskier!

edit: timeline doesn't really matter. just getting off the ground and want to at least get something up on the website soon.

H'ok well I'm in. How do you want to do this? Just post the mock-ups in this thread as they come along? Set-up a folder on a free photosharing site so they can all be viewed as thumbs at the same time?

I'll do it for free if you drag a road closure sign into an intersection.

Just post the mock-ups in this thread, and if it progresses to that point I will make a new poll thread for voting on a winner.

    bump.

depending on the quality of submissions I will either find some sort of suitable prize for a competition, or pay the creator of my favorite one some cash.

Do yourself a big favor and have the logo created in Illustrator or some other vector based drawing program. A Photoshoped logo will cause you grief down the line, trust me on this.

This is true. Or at least it sounds like it makes sense and that's what counts, right?

It is true about illustrator > photoshop (when used correctly), I'm swamped right now, but i'll see if i can make something worthwhile.

Illustrator vs Photoshop are two completely different ways of handling graphics (like two different languages). Illustrator files are Vector art and Photoshop files are Raster art. Vector art is coordinate based (meaning you can scale the file to any size you want with no loss of quality as it's coordinate based rather than pixel based). Photoshop is pixel based (meaning tons of little tiny squares are used to make the image) as you blow up pixel based art you have an obvious loss in quality. Both pieces of software are vital and have their own strengths. When building the logo you'll want to be in Illustrator, but when it comes time to build the website that Illustator file is eventually going to be converted to a pixel based image.

I’d second using Illustrator over Photoshop for a logo. A vector logo is way more versatile, especially if you want to go from say a DVD case to a t-shirt. If it’s created right you can size vector art and print the same logo on a coffee cup, a bus wrap or a billboard.
