It's been done. I have definitely drank keg beer in the bowl. Two guys made a sled to tow on, and wore harnesses, double tethered, walking side by side. no small feat

if someone were to haul my gear, i think i could manage a mini keg up to the bowl as long as it can fit into my pack. or it could work if someone has an old external frame pack that we can use to rig up a carrying system.*

how much do they weigh anyways?

*i have a feeling i'm going to regret saying this....

    you may...

An american 1/2 barrell standard frat party special weighs in at 160.5 lbs, 130 of that going to the sweet nectar.

The mini keg or pony keg, 7.75 gallons yielding 82 12oz. solo cups or roughly 30 full size nalgene bottles, weighs in at 90lbs full, F the math on the empty pony keg... either way, that's the kind of thing you'd want to drag up on a sled the night before and let sit for about a week before trying to tap that bad larry.

yeah, fuck that. no way in hell am i going to haul up a keg that weighs more than i do.

a 5 gallon keg isn't too unrealistic though, they only weigh about 60 pounds. definitely doable if we wanted beer up there.

Are you a member of AMC? I'm going to check into that. If even 10 people stay there, it's $22 a night per person.

I've traditionally done the hermit lake shelters. I think 10/per/per is the cost, plus you can, from time to time, accidentally grab a little shelter ass. Isn't that right Devo???

Shelter Ass- So I fuckin' wake up to go do hillman's on the most friggin' gnar ass fuckin' no pow fuckin' windy as fuck morning w/o breakfast, and just the flavor of dried up Jack Daniel's fresh on the mouth, and Devo has his mummy bag open enough to stick his old gay leg out and wrap it over me in my bag. -Shelter Ass

    i miss you....

I am in for that weekend. I too will be skinning the sherbie. Not sure what day I will be heading up but will probably be bringing "Jays dip powcher" with me who will be skinning too. I would be psyched to stay the night(s) up there. I know it used to be that if you booked as a group (not sure of minimum #), you could reserve a shelter ahead of time.

hmm... the lady on the phone just said no. All members of the party that the reservation is being made for must be present when you make the res. to boot (pack).

She was going to transfer me to someone else yada yada yada, blah blah blah. I said no, I'll do that sometime later. I know that I've done a reservation ahead of time before in the summer with DEVO and a camp group from the Y. Those were the days, I miss you too devo

If someone wants to get a quarter keg I will carry it. Preferably on some sort of sled...but Ill try and do it, one way or another. If its easier to hike with the keg, Ill do that, but someone may have to carry my ski boots.

p.s. I did ski attitash yesterday. It was not dry.

my father once hiked a keg up there in the 70s, so I guess its my turn.

    I'm in mofos....

H-Man I'm down for the skin in, but would most likely want to go check out the debauchery in the main bowl. Kinda wish i could bring my lps instead of the noodly tele daddies......oh well.

so whats the consensus? are more people skinning it or hiking it? and is it easier to skin it, or hike it? always wanted to go tucks, but never been, so i'm a newb to the whole process. i don't have any touring gear, nor experience skinning, but am thinking of getting conundrum's t-rocks with naxos over in gear swap. it would be my first time skinning. should i give it a go, or stick with hiking it instead?
