    Exactly my point, Tim.

    Fatback: let's use Tim's 25% model. You make $20k, Gates makes $1B

You pay $5k, leaving you $15k to live on.
Gates pays $250M (not likely) leaving him $750M to try to eek by on.

Who paid more dearly? Who could use the money more? Therein lies the disparity of our viewpoints. BTW - that $350k figure is yours. My wife and I earn far less than that, but you don't want to hear that.

Let me do it for you. I'll knock all your teeth out, that way you can start with a clean slate.

that aside, it appears as if Romney clearing the way has also eliminated Huckabee's chances as VP. Apparently had Romney stayed in the race, at some point Huck would have been able to offer up his delegates in return for something like being the running mate to insure a McCain nomination.

Tipp, I only came up with 350K because you said you pay 45% of your income to federal tax, which would put you in the 35% bracket. I see you corrected that in an earlier post and I missed it, my bad on that.

Obviously those making below a certain figure say 25K wouldn't pay any tax.

I agree. McCain has a choice in VPs- someone to attract the religious right (like Huckabee), or someone to nail down more traditional Republicans. I think he'll go with what's behind door no. 2 (since the evangelicals would never go for Clinton or Obama anyway).

    well DUH

the whole reason that Coulter and her ass buddies are voting for Hillary is so they can enjoy the ratings spike and right wing rabble rousing material that 4-8 years of a Hillary presidency would provide

and unfortunately even if McCain wins the right wing will never be marginalized, I thought the same thing when the Dems soundly spanked us in the mid-terms. except instead of

"wow, we really need to work harder at making inroads with the moderates in our party and appeal to more independent minded voters. 6 years of Bush/Cheney conservatism has really rubbed some of them the wrong way and they're defecting or sending message votes."

the prevailing spin out of the gas bags was: "we lost that election because we turned our back on our conservative principles and alienated our base."

Its extremely frustrating to have watched the Northeastern wing of the party become further and further marginalized by bombastic, self righteous demagogues from the South who 50 years ago were probably out burning crosses and denouncing the party they now speak so reverently of as nothing more then a bunch of Yankee carpet baggers.

So to all you Dems out there, you can take those guys back any time you want

huh? phoniness and old age strike me as fair criticisms, being a woman or being black not so much.

Doesn't McCain have an illegitimate black daughter anyway?

Tax Deseret Industries. More. And more. Then you will have people pissed off over half the western states. But it would be good money.

The penalty for the owners, and benefit for society, for releasing them from that liability is that they have to pay corporate taxes.

If any of the above is accurate, then removing the corporate tax just gives those owners a "free pass" from their liability in the legal sense, no?
There is nothing wrong with paying corporate taxes. In this case the government is "double dipping" because the same income stream is being taxed both at the corporate level and then again for the individual. However, my post was more geared towards tipp calling the dividend tax rate a a loopehole for the rich when anyone who makes an investment in a dividend paying stock benefits from the lower tax rate on dividends. This is especially true for many middle class seniors who now earn the majority of there income through interest and dividends.

You tell them like it IS! Because we KNOW that provision of the tax code was written mainly for the benefit of middle class seniors!

Oh boy, he isn’t running for Senate, because he is too old. So thats nice. Hopefully he isn’t planning a presidential run.

    Heck of a necro bump.
That is surprisingly humble of him if he's really just retiring. Should have called out some more of his fellow Senators.
    No longer stuck.
