Never been, thinking of going, heard there are "mountains" past the resort that are bigger. Is this true, is it worth bringing a touring setup? Any of you been there/anybody there. For those of you that don't know what I'm talking about check it here http://www.searchmont.com

after shredding 400 vert in MI I am looking forward to the 750 vert. I will be able to link at least 5 turns at speed now-AWESOME!~

I never skied there, but I've gone to a few DH mountain bike races there. It's a big hill. And yes, the ridge continues for a ways beyond the resort. The representative from the hill who was helping out at the races (can't remember his name) talked about skiing said ridge. There are also a few skiable-looking places on the way to the hill on the north side of the road. However, like I said, I've only ridden my bike up there and have no idea what's skiable or how tight the trees are. Why not bring your touring setup? Not like you can't use touring stuff inbounds.

Resurrecting an old thread here. I found out last season about the Bellevue Valley Lodge which is a small B&B not far from Searchmont with their own glade runs. The owner is a HUGE telemark guy and they hold the Snow Flea Telefest there every February.

There's a little hill out there that peaked my curiosity one day when I was looking at a map and i found a winter TR. It's just north of Searchmont. Never been out there, and have not been to Searchmont since the mid 90s.
