    WINGBOWL!!!

Currently taking place is the greatest eating event in the world- 610 WIP'S Wingbowl.

Philly mags know what I'm talking about but for those that don't--here's the deal.
16 years ago, the local sports station, upset with the failure of philly teams to win- particularly the failure of the eagles to be in the super bowl- decided to hold this eating contest on the friday before the super bowl. Well it was a hit. Since then it has grown. They moved from a hotel lobby to night club to the spectrum to the Wachovia center where the Flyers play (and it's sold out). Currently it contains about 20 wing eaters with the top prize being a new car.

But the eating isn't what makes this thing special...what makes it special is the drunken debauchary that takes place between 4 and 9 am. Bascailly the whole event has become a strip club (there are wingettes- bascially strippers- that count the wings), a bar (more beer sold at this event then ANY other wachovia center event), and a frat party.

I'm culturally unqualified to appreciate that.

    And I'm OK with that.
    Really, really OK.

When I used to live there, I liked looking at the hot chicas (a.k.a strippers and wanna-be models looking for publicity, kinda like what the Man Show used to do), but the people stuffing their pie holes in the name of competitive eating I can do without.
