Converting 912/914 Brake Housings to Work on 997 Equipes

As I am sure brake housings for 997's are getting rarer this may help a few people. Not sure if this has been covered in detail, searched and couldn't really find anything on it. I just got a pair of 14-20 din 997 Equipes that didn't come with brake housings or arms. I read in Gammas thread about the extra material on the back of 912/914 housings that don't allow them to fit on a 997. All I did was dremel the extra plastic off on the 912/914 housing and it fit perfectly.

If the brakes are not wide enough to fit around the ski you are putting them on you must bend the brakes out to the side while mounted on a different ski before you screw them into the new ski with the 997's or you will have problems getting enough purchase to screw the brake housing down into the hole in the binding.

    Here are some pics...

Looks like you went a bit gung-ho with the rotary tool. Are you sure you need to take out that much material?

Maybe not, first pair I did. Just experimenting. The binding isn't going to fall apart, either is the brake housing. Does it bother you?
