    BCA alpine trekkers. Any thoughts?

I have no interest in buying an a/t binding, I like my P18's and salomon s916's. However sometimes it would be nice to go trek once in a while to some goods. I havent heard too much about the BCA Trekkers. Any thoughts? Any thoughts on if and how they would work with those said bindings?

Everyone here hates them, for the most part. I dont mind them, and Lou Dawson, master of dynafit, carries them in his pack when he skis resort. Personally, I think they are a great tool when you just want to go sidecountry. You just have to be gentle with them.

I have a pair that I keep arround for new friends who want to come adventuring. It usually gets them hooked & they end up getting AT gear or converting to Tele. They work fine for what you're after. Keep an eye on ebay & you can score a deal occasionally

if you can get them cheap, say 40 bucks or less, why not? If you start to tour more you will hate them but to get into it they will work.

Alpine Trekkers were responsible for most of us getting started in the BC. I had them, they sucked, then I "upgraded" to the Ramer Rat (a better, more solid design). These should only be used lightly... they are flimsy, and do break. Remember, they are NOT as good as a dedicated AT binding of course.

I use mine when I am out west, easy to bring along so I am not bringing a whole 'nother set of equipment. I have gone all day on Teton pass with mine, they are especially usefull at those resorts that have upper lifts where they don't check tickets.

Good place to start, but you will end up with AT gear.

    Oh, and search.

no thoughts. none whatsoever. nobody on here has ever used these or had anything to say about them...
    ever.

they are heavy and break a lot. the simple breakdown is this. AT setup = better performance on the uphill, less on the downhill vs. trekkers which performs worse on the uphill but better on the downhill since you can use your alpine binders. it's that simple. now think about how much downhill you want to trade for your uphill and you'll have your answers.
