Heading to SLC - where to go?

Im heading to SLC early Feb for 10 days skiing.

I'm thinking of staying in Sandy or Downtown SLC? What do you guys think. I would like to do the majority of my skiing at Alta and Snowbird.
Is it worth going to the Park City resorts?
What about Pow Mow or Snowbasin in the weekend?

    Any help would be great.

Where you should stay depends on what your priorities are. If you're there to ski and nothing else, stay in Sandy, or better yet, up in the Canyon if you can. If you want something to do at night besides sit in the hot tub by yourself or ice your knees while watching Law & Order re-runs on TV, stay in SLC.

Alta & Snowbird will be great right after a storm, but they'll also get tracked out pretty fast, particularly on weekends. If you want fewer crowds, particularly mid-week, hit Solitude (Honeycomb Canyon) as well. I avoid Brighton due to the preponderance of knuckle draggers. The Canyons may hold powder for longer after a storm, but they don't get quite as much snow as the cottonwoods. I wouldn't bother with PC or DV, but that's just me (I lived in UT for nearly 20 years and have never skied DV). Pow Mow will hold some stashes for days, but it's a longer drive. They've got lots of acreage and fewer skiers, so worth the trip a couple of days post-storm when the SLC resorts are tracked out. Snowbasin has nice terrain but not as much snow as its neighbor; unfortunately I've never been there on a powder day.

I'll be jealous. I grew up in Sandy and thought living 3 miles from Little Cottonwood was normal. I learned the hard way that it's not and am trying to move back.

OK, it's your first post. But ... this site has a search function. I believe you questions have been asked, and answered, before.
