Anyone knows any good place to immigrate to surf?

    Hi.

I am a French Canadian who live in Montreal Canada.

I love to do River Surfing on the St-Lawrence river.

I am currently thinking of immigrating near the ocean, ( in a warmer location than canada ). I would love to surf everyday.

I was thinking of australia but their permanent residency statue doesnt seem too easy to get and I read that people who overextend their visa are not allowed to work and can be deported... not very interesting.

I would like to move ( maybe permanently or for many years ) to a small town near the ocean with some decent breaks and find a job in a bar, a shop or watever.. no big career or anything. Just to live a simple life and surf!

Immigration formalities seem so complicated, restrictive and unsure.

Anyone got any idea or experience?

I speak english and french ( no spanish ) and I would like to find a place were it would be easy to immigrate legally that have some nice surf spots.

    Tanks everybody for your help!

If you have a pension from a corporation or social security agency that exceeds USD$500 per month you qualify for a pensionado visa in Panama that would allow you to live there as a resident. You can also create a fixed annuity that meets the same requirements, if you do not have a pension. You can also buy your way in with a USD$100,000 CD account.

Same goes for many other nations looking for foreign investment. Either way, you cannot be legally employed without a work permit. If you have your own business in a non-competitive sector you may be allowed to live and work. But, if you have that kind of money you might as well move to Sumatra and relax. Selamat jalan!

Three months a year, during VT mud season, when the surf is bumping on the Pacific coast (APR, MAY, JUN).

EDIT: This figure has been revised as of August 2008. An individual now needs a monthly income of $1000 per month to qualify for the pensionado visa.
