guy to friend on lift in Vail Saturday: "Yeah, I got stuck on a run with a bunch of powder on it. It sucked!"
friend: "yeah. I think it's supposed to stop snowing tomorrow, I think."

young guy from Virginia to me on a lift: "Where ya been skiing?"
me: "Oh, over there. Can't really say"
guy: "oh yeah, me too, totally. But this run right under the lift is awesome!"

I had a gaper comment on my 183 bros being slightly taller than I am. He sa
Gaper: "hey man, your skis are too tall for you" commenting on my 183 bros
G: "They should be up to your nose at the most"
Me: "for a beginner or intermediate skier, maybe"
G: " Ok sure, you should try these" hold up his snowblades
Me: "Well, since we both think our skis are the wrong size for eachother, I could give you part of mine so were both where we should be"

he just stares as I get on the gondi feeling accomplished

Chair in front of me on Gad 2, the steeper part:

Snowboarder 1: "Damn, dude, that chute was awesome."
Snowboarder 2: "Hell yeah! Look, you can see our tracks!"

Two perfectly straight tracks were witnessed, each the approximate width of the board's length.
Congrats, mags! We collected 1030.68! for birdman!

In the parking lot of Kirkwood this morning with avy bombs going off in the background. A middle-aged lady dropped this gem loud enough for us to hear:

'I don't know what I'd do if I got buried in an avalanche. I don't even have my iPhone!'
((. The joy I get from skiing...

Tonight, at a dinner party, a friend I recently met told me...

"Yeah, I've skied about six times. You wanna go skiing when your knee gets better? We need to go skiing."

I had to drive home with my ski goggles on once when my windshield got blown out about 100km before I got home. It was one of those old hardened glass windscreen so I was being sprayed by little pellets of glass all the way home. It was also in an early 70s Australian Ford V8, so I got a lot of strange looks as I drove through towns looking like a Mad Max wannabe.

At A-basin this weekend a guy in the lift line looks at my buddy's Freerides and says, "tele it up man!" We just shook our heads in silence.

So, what are those skis meant for, going fast, or for powder?

I overheard a spoiled little 10 yr. old boy telling his mom that he would need to buy a "pretty good" snowboard for his first time out because he "was really good" at the Shawn White video game he got for Christmas! He was very confident that he was "gonna rip" on his first day. He then tried to buy several large stickers to "put on the bottom" of his new board. He thought that that was how you got different base graphics. I politely told him that the stickers would shred right off immediately... and the little bastard started to argue with me about it!!

    This thread is good comedy.

While skiing in Risoul, France a couple years ago. I met some Brits in a bar and thought it would be fun to go skiing with some new faces since I was travelling around checking out the southern french alps. This guy nicknamed Wiggy rolls up, snowblades, onepiece fartsack, and one of those stupid touron court jester hats. I said "hey bro nice outfit, nice one". I thought he was joking, I was wrong. I proceeded to tell him that I couldn't take him where we were going to go in the high alpine, (traverses, lack of poles on his part). He got kinda pissy and said he could kick my ass anywhere on the hill. Wow somepeople are really dillusional...... I think it was a new record for losing a group at the top of the highest lift..... about 3 seconds. Skiing alone sometimes is better.

Blame moguls on snowboarders??? Are you fucking kidding me??? Skiers turn every 3 feet thus causing moguls, I'd like to see a boarder even TRY to make a mogul field... The n00b ones usually just scrape it all off, not create moguls.

I like moguls and I am a boarder. We don't create the moguls, we just make them look easier to suck in skiers to get trashed.

The snowboard part makes it funny, but the fact is correct...

Alta does ski all the same

    Awesome.
