I thought Telluride lost in the play offs to the Andes who got beaten by the Himalaya's after extra time and a penalty shoot out. Of course there was the rumor that Nepal had been using steroids on some of it's under performing mid 18'ers.

I have had just about enough of the stupid, rich, arrogant, douchebag, tourists from Texas! They skied (very poorly) into a roped off area, with no way out, in high avalanche conditions, read the warning signs, had absolutely no plan, and were wearing helmet cams!!! No avy gear, poor skiing skills, no training, and no clue! That whole part of the mountain was closed because they didn't know if anyone else was caught in their slide, and all the patrol were called in to do a manual search for victims. The wosrt part was the kids seemed to have no clue about the dangers that thet put others in that day! They were running for mommies condo when the patrol caught up with them!
These kids got off lucky if you ask me!

I will say that is quite a blunt statement but I agree with you. Their IGNORANCE is what almost got them killed, but bringing up where they are from does not help your point at all.

I think this illustrates a lack of eduction that is very hard to address. Their prime concern was getting caught not the stability or terrain. Before living at a ski resort and spending time around locals and patrol I know I didn't have any idea how dangerous it can be. I'm just thankfull I was to chicken in my gaper days to duck ropes. I have no idea how to educate the masses but it needs to be done because at the end of the day threats from patrol only go so far.
