but it will move from there again soon.

When most folks talk about hiking Waterhouse they are talking about the peak on the left which is at 9380 feet. The real
Waterhouse Peak, which is accessed from the eastern end of Luther Pass is at 9497 feet.

Sometimes a thread shouldn't belong to the OP. The ability to delete threads is one of the major weaknesses here because of abuse like this. You'd think someone would change that setting when Highway Star erased himself and all his threads from existence. IMO, the moderators should restore it and remove the ability for Tahoegnar to erase threads.

I thought the rain crust killed the Tahoe epic thread.

Did all ya'll get out there this weekend to beat that crust into submission?

Looks like we are in for some thaw/spring conditions for a week.

What crust? (We didn't find it yesterday, did run into guermo however)

It wasn't cold smoke, but very skiable Sierra Cement, plenty worthy for a second lap.

i was there last weekend at squaw

it was definitely crusty, then slushy midday, then crusty again. horrible snow but they had groomed a LOT of runs for sunday and bombing in a tuck siber bowl and c2 face is always a good time. granite peak was open for hiking I was about to do it but didnt take granite up until like 2 and was just to lazy for what probably wasn't going to be that good of skiing. i guess i'll never know

but i got bitched at for skiing to fast near the kids though. oh well they shouldn't stop at the bottom of a steep groomer anyways IMO.

Offpiste - It was pretty awful on Saturday at KW, and was even more horrendous on Sunday. The best line were off the ridges of Wagon, Wall, and Big Jims areas. But a TR will follow later tonight to show how to milk these so called beyond shitty conditions.

The best snow Sunday was that sun facing face off on the far skier's left side of Eagle bowl....4 inches of buttery slush...

Sunday at Squaw was fairly crusty, but great coverage and beautiful weather....I had a good time. Didnt wait behind a single person in KT all day long (which given my baby sharing duties, was the "bang for the buck" run I needed). Drive home at 5 was crazy traffic though (267 solved the problem, but I felt bad for everyone on 89).

And I promised not to post in this damn thread, but this needs responding to:

    Let's see....
You at 30 mph vs. the kid at a standstill.
You at 150+ lbs(?) vs. the kid at 30 lbs.
A collision is not pretty for you, and a potential tragedy for a kid (and parent).
And why? Just so you could make a few more high speed turns near the bottom?

You will fuck up one of those kids if you make a little mistake, or one of the kids decides to make a left instead of the right you thought they were going to make.

I have 3 kids out skiing with me on weekends, and nothing scares me more than one of them getting hit by a high speed skier or snowboarder. I don't care how amazing your skills are, slow down near the kids. Remember, you are at a ski resort with lots of other folks. Heavenly had like 17,000 people this weekend per day, I'm sure Squaw wasn't much different. Go haul ass away from kids where the only person who'll get fucked up in the fall is you. There are like a million other mountains that no one is on every day during the winter. Go hike one of them. Or if you must ski resorts on weekends, understand what you're getting into in terms of crowds, kids, collisions, etc and ski smart.

....another example of how resort skiing is so much more dangerous than bc.

I hate dumbfucks. I was thinking of this as i taught my 2 yrs old god son to ski a few weeks ago. Going right through the merge area where my wife was blind sided and inverted by a dumbfuck skiing fast, out of control at the bottom of a run. Dumbfucks suck.
