Alright, so I have been having some back issues for a while now, and at age 18, it seems a little early.
So last year (17) a lot of my skiing days consisted of me going off of cliffs onto hardpack, and a lot of general bashing myself around while skiing. I experienced a bit of back pain, but more nagging than anything. Finally, in the spring I bent over to pick something up in my class and threw it completely. I was in so much pain I left school right then. I recall my spine being misaligned when I went into the chiro.
This year I have been skiing a bit harder and more frequently. I am starting to get the back issues again to the point where it is quite noticeable sitting around the house. I dont really notice it while skiing though. From what I hear about chiropracting, your muscles try to compensate for the misalignment of the spine and basically are stretched out all weird and get sore.
Basically, the muscles that run parallel on either side of the spine are sore, and my lower back hurts as well, and feels generally uncomfortable. And it hurts on the muscles on my back behind my lungs as well. Any advice on this? I think I am going to see someone but I dont know how much I believe in the chiropractor though. It seems like everyone I know that goes to one really has to rely on it. My dad goes to a chiro frequently and it seems like the more he goes, the more he has to go; just an observation. So I am considering going to the doctor, and maybe the chiro for this if that doesnt help.
Any ideas?
I know that the chiropractor has given temporary relief, but is there anything I can do for preventative measure? I climb and stuff, so I think I have a decently strong core.
