camera life w/ casio exilim?

we have a quiver of digicams but kinda need a slim compact cameria the size of, say, the casio EX V8 (similar to the V7). this class of camera always seems to use the Li ion batteries.

I've had mixed results with some 2+ year old cameras w/ these types of batteries on ski days, even inside my jacket.

is it better to go w/ a compact camera that takes AA batteries?

i'll do a search as well but i'm headed out the door now...

Mine can be tempro-mental on cold days... Sometimes it's money all day, sometimes it freezes up on me. I started carrying hand warmers to keep in the pocket with it.
