By that logic, any question of religion should be completely irrelevant when someone like Pat Robertson runs for president.

The problem with Pat Roberson isn't his religion, is that he's a ideologically rigid intolerant whackjob who thinks that anyone who disagrees with him is going to hell. Religion is irrelevant if the candidate isn't bent on forcing that religion upon everyone else.
