My friend has got a free ticket for Seven Dust, Cold, Apartment 26, and some other band. I have seen Seven Dust a few times and they are hit and miss, but am really looking forward to Cold.
I've seen Sevendust live and I thought they were O.K. They didn't steal the show but they didn't suck either, so I totally agree with your "hit and miss" statement.
I've never seen Cold live but they are one of my favorite bands. Their album "13 ways to bleed on stage" was an awesome album. A lot of really good stuff in it.
Even though I've never seen them live i'd def. say to go for it. It will probably be a pretty good show, and if the tix are free you've got nothing to lose.
Just make sure to report back and let me know how Cold does.
Atomship was playing while we were still trying to get in so not much to report about them other than the last song rocked.
Apartment 26 was just OK. They sound better on the radio and for the venue they played their setup was not good soundwise. Too much music for that stage. Everything was so blended and distorted I couldn't understand let alone clearly hear the lead singer.
Cold was the best band of the night in my opinion. It sucked that they only played for a half hour, but they packed a lot into that time. I thought it was cool the way the lead singer gave the audience some background on the song they were about to play, especially the song about Kurt Cobain and Lane Stayely (sp?). They played several songs from their current album, but didn't forget their previous one either. All in all the sound was good. Not too loud that it was distorted, but loud enough to keep the joint pumping. I mentioned my only real complaint which was the amount of time they were alotted. The lead singer sure does bend over a lot. I guess that helped with his screams. I would actually pay next time to see them again.
Seven dust was actually pretty good. A lot of energy and interacted enough with the crowd. Since it was a small venue the lead guitar made eye contact an acknowledged many of the fans. DeShawn (sp?) is ripped and wore a T-shirt with the local t-ball team logo.
His dreadlocks may be gone but he still does the head banging thing. I didn't go into the mosh pit this time because the last time I did some chick dropped on my head from behind during a stage pass. I still however was close enough to clearly see the tatoos on the band. The one thing I noticed was the lead singer kept spitting into the crowd.
We didn't stay for the entire show mostly because paying $4 for any kind of Budweiser product is a crime against humanity and my taste buds were beginning to revolt. We probably saw 90 of Seven Dust but since I have seen them before I don't think I missed anything new.
