    Cornin'?

Was up there on Saturday , coverage is excellent for the first time in nearly two years. Big base all the way at the bottom. Rode heavy powder below the cornice that day , looks to be corning up now.

actually met someone w/ lower standards of snow quality then myself. sort of wintery snow but mostly breakable crust in the n facing trees on tallac earlt this am. thats it for powder hunting in tahoe till we gbet more snow on my end so the corn hunt begins on thurs. the s facing stuff we did ski at the bottom only had the top inch consolidated so it wouldn't support weight so hopefully higher s facing stuff is farther along. on a brighter note, there is indeed parking and access via spring creek rd this year though it starts you in a diff spot. seems most are ascending via corkscrew this year.

    2/2-2/4/08 at the bradley hut

Hope this thread isn't dead. This weekend was pretty epic at the Bradley Hut

we put a bunch of this in our packs

    and headed into the night

so we could wake up in the morning and enjoy a leisurely hike like this

when we got to the top we did this

So we could really get down and enjoy some of this

then we headed back up th mountain

so we could get a little more stuff like this

but alas we had to go home and when we got back to the car it looked like this

You weren't the guy with the black truck next to us were you? If so I owe you a beer. That spot they shoveled out for themselves made digging ourselves out a breeze compared to what it coulda been.

Nice Pics Madturtle & great choice of beverages..looks like a pretty solid skin track you were following up in that second frame. .
Skied a bit on the west shore on Thursday (Jakes & its neighbor). Top was still good...sure that's changed though.

Hiked Jakes on Mon late. Started around 11:00am. Variable conditions from spring slop to Sugary goodness. Tried to stay in the north facing treeline where it was still 6"-12" of nice sugar. Hiked in short sleeve shirt. It was a beautifull day. no pics.(dead battery).sorry

Any day-trip recommendations for a BC newbie?

I'm looking to try something around Tahoe this weekend that's (a) easy to find (parking and route-wise) and (b) relatively avy-safe.

    Many thanks!

I think Carson Pass and Rose' Hourglass are relatively avy safe. However, there have been fairly warm temps with freezing and thawing. Be careful no matter what, of course.

Tallac has boot, skin and every other kind track all over the place. Great place to ski. Lots of options. Despite being full of gapers on the weekends pretty are pretty friendly for the most part. I guess I picked a wrong weekend to go.

No first hand beta for you since the storms stopped on Monday T-boz, but I'm positive there's a skin track up it and likely tracks in the cross. But maybe no ones dropped the elevator shaft or Babycham or front side chutes. You might even find yourself skiing pow and corn on the same run right now. Bring your glopstopper for the skins.

Started down it today and yes, about as wide as a single lane road, I'm sure, down lower. The snow was getting baked pretty good today, I found a sweet pow run still though.

still kickass powder on steep n facing lines and great corn on s faces though only the top 1-2" is consolidated. skied a point to point today hitting the n face of ralston 1st and the main halls of the gods couloir down to our shuttle car on fallen leaf. great powder on ralston as well as in halls top to bottom. choke is tight but the 2 skiers left entrances finally go. i've really got to get some work done this week but when i think of how the pow is getting more and more effected by the sun i feel like its my duty to go ski it while its still good. thats awesome to hear that babycham goes now too as it looked pretty meager last i saw. this last storm finally plastered some base in the local couloirs.

nice job hitting pipeline nuthon. we were gonna hit that today till the tour idea was sprouted. and now that i know there were tracks in it already i think we made the right choice. did you ever tag jobs???
