    Non Soy Soft Shell Pants?

I have a pair of Ibex wool/schoeller mix (i think) soft shell pants. They kick ass for keeping a nice temp when touring. The only problem is they are cut pretty trim for my taste, and if I gain any more lbs they are going to be straight up emo jeans. Certainly not as bad as patagonia guide or superguide pants that I tried, but it seems like all the softshell pants I've seen or used are styled exclusively for the meadow-skipping, tele-til-you're-smelly, I-use-to-wear-wool-knickers crowd. My question is, is anyone making a softshell pant with a little broader appeal from a stylistic perspective?

I have the same problem too. The best I could find for fit are various Cloudveil offerings, although they'll be a bit on the em0 side too.

I like my mammut soft shells, not super tight, but definitely a bit emo still. They're so comfy though, that I don't really care. Most any soft shell pant I can think of is made by a more backcountry or mountaineering oriented company and thus will have the more "alpine cut". Perhaps as soft shells are getting more popular, some of the more "steezy" companies will make some less soy pants.

since when did "emo" become a synonym for tight?

As for your question, lose some weight, fatass!

don't snicker but I dig my Columbia Titanium soft shell pants

I'm not a skinny EMO touring dude so finding soft shell pants that actually fit a 40 waist was a f-ing nightmare, I found them on STP last year for like $60 and figured it was worth a shot.

I guess the new version is the Wildcard

For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

And by the way, if anyone is looking to buy some tight soft-shell pants, and you like the "Tom Selleck/I'm comfortable with my package" look, please buy my 66 North Icelands for a price so cheap you'll need a diaper:

I have Sessions "soft shell" (no other specific name) pants, from SAC. They're cut like regular semi-baggy ski pants, not emo-boy nut-sack huggers. The butt and back of the thigh is nylon (DWR treated?), the rest is softshell material.

    Backcountry.com has them still:

For anyone looking at Haglofs' stuff: I just returned some Haglofs XCR hardshell pants at STP; they're sized Euro-snug, and they didn't have internal ankle gaiters.

For what it's worth I like the cloudveil pants; Headwall & Zero-G. I don't own either, just checked 'em out. Baggier fit than many

Quit fucking around with the off the rack pants if you're not satisfied with the fit. Check out Beyond Fleece Cold Fusion. Custom made to your measurements. They guarantee that you will be happy with the fit or they'll remake the item till you are happy.

I tried on some of the other patagonia pants and they weren't as emo-rific. Light smoke I think was the name. I think the point of soft shell stuff is to be stretchy, why would you need stretchy if it was already baggy? Thats why they are all so tight.

I have a pair of eiders and I had the same complaint, but the more I wear them the less I care because they are made to be agile. They are really nice for touring, winter hiking, and ice climbing.

Yeah how about just going on a wheatgrass juice and fresh tumeric root extract fast - that'll toughen your ass up.

BTW, do these Patagonia Super Guide pants make my meadow-skipping ass look fat?

Yup, probably the light smoke. I've got some super guides that I'm probably going to sell shortly but I recently tried the light smoke and they definitely fit much looser. Look like great pants.

Also tried on the Cloudveil RPK's and they seem to have a "baggier" fit as well. At least in comparison to the super guides...

You might check out the Flylow pants. I just picked up a pair of the old Drop Kicks - the fit is comfortably baggy. I can't comment directly on breathability since it's been cold as balls lately, and it just hasn't been an issue, but I expect them to breathe better than a hardshell but not as well as the Scholler stuff. They have lots of venting though. They are not 100% wind and waterproof, but almost. Bomber construction. They won't fit if you're tall and skinny though.

I have a pair and I look like the bees knees in them, fyi. While I can't guarantee you'll be swarmed by all the ladies while skiing like I am, I would not be surprised.

Even if you look like Rontele. Yes, they're that awesome.

Lose some weight fatass and they won't be tight. Nobody makes bodaciously baggy softshell pants because that defeats the purpose. Baggy pants don't breath as well and weigh more.
