957 Racing - use them or not?

I have a pair of Salomon 957 Racing that are in excellent shape. All metal, DIN to 16. It looks that based purely on age they are no longer indemnified (based on searching threads - is that correct?). After searching, looks like there are a lot of fans of these bindings. Any thoughts?

The NSSRA posts the indemnification list annually at www.nssra.com. I'm not sure whether the 957 is still on there.

They usually do but not this year yet. Here's a Salomon list:

No longer indemnified, but I still use mine and they work great. As long as they're all metal, use 'em.

On skis with a 110 waist would you mount them flat or lift them.

If you can find a shop to mount them, they are a rock solid choice.

    No longer on the list.

I still use them, have two DIN 14 pairs, in fact, they are on my everyday skis (96mm waist). Was a little worried at the start of the season, but had a nice little double pop (one toe, one heel) and they were butter, released perfectly. I actually kind of like 'em better than the 914s and s900 (both DIN 14) that I have -- just a real nice, simple binder, mostly metal compared to my other clamps.

I would mount them with whatever hardware you've got, if you don't have the lifters, don't bother, they are kind of a pain in the ass to find and won't really make any difference anyway. If you do have the lifters, you might as well try them, since the screws are going to be too long to mount without - you can always take 'em off and grind down the screws or find a set of shorter ones later if you don't like the lift.

Edit: Nevermind, they are unsafe... You should just send them to me, so that I can dispose of them properly .
