Everybody is just trying to point out that it's ridiculous to call out Max when you've never met the guy and never skied with him. You're right, I can't compare him to your abilities either, so my bad...

Max probably has more days skiing this season than almost anybody on this board, and that's while being a full time student and pre-med. The kids has some serious dedication to the sport and has come a long way from the Gosey of old.

Who cares what bindings he's on? They are the most solid (well who knows now) AT binding around right now and the kid puts a lot of days on his skis. Why not go for something that's gonna last longer than some Naxos or Fritchis.

And finally, appologies to the OP for the stupid argument that hijacked his thread. I'm done here.
I guess I can't disagree with that. My point was that I was more worried that someone who has shown some bad decision making in the past would wind up getting himself hurt because he wanted a hardcore binding. But I've obviously never skied with the kid, and was taking my position based upon what all of his friends had said in the past. Good on you for sticking up for him.

it is astounding that someone would buy that binding then ski it on a 11 din. If you are going to ski that din, save the weight and just use a Fritschi.

Get a Dynafit and set them so they don't release if you're worried about losing your skis.

To paraphrase Rick James: "Caffeine's a hell of a drug..." I do apologize for that, mang.

SS, Wizzy Wall, robokill, and those of you who have stood up for me as of late: I appreciate the backing, but I don't need it. Particularly with claims like "Max can ski better than you can!" when you really have no idea if that's true or not. Compare Goseys and Goseys; don't attack somebody with unsubstantiated knowledge just because he speaks out against me. I know my skiing and judgment are improving, and whether other people know or think otherwise doesn't bother me very much. (I must admit, though, that having been told repeatedly "lookin' good, dude" does feel pretty good).

The point: no need to start flame wars. Almost every time people say something about me, I tend to relive the self-fulfilling prophecy of attention whoring... Now instead of jabbering on TGR, just call me about skiing Thursday, E.

I didn't get a Duke just to feel cool. I got a Duke because it's an appropriate choice for my skiing, as supported by an upstanding dood whom I respect and trust. Bear in mind the minimum DIN is 6...

No hard feelings, Liberal. My reputation will stick with me unless evidence to the contrary appears in person...

Who the fuck cares if the Duke is the be-all, end-all of AT bindings? It's silly to believe that. I'm stoked with how they perform, and I'd imagine a lot of people are, too. I hope Marker can change its reputation with this binding, and I damn sure hope Patrick finds his ski...

I personally couldn't care less what you think about me Nick. You're just another east coast poser living in Denver who thinks too highly of himself, I've never seen you post anything of value.

I've put down plenty of big lines in the backcountry of CO, Wyoming and California, and have posted plenty of TR's, if you haven't bothered to look at them, that's your problem.
I looked at your TR's but didn't see the plenty of biglines part. I know a great skier from Louisiana.

not gonna touch all this i-ski-better-than-you stuff, but i'll probably be in 4P tomorrow and will poke around a bit for you -- despite the odds, you just never know. i'm assuming you lost it on the actual pitch, as opposed to the runout if you were only 700' down from where you put on your skis after the bootpack.

it's a shame that you lost that ski/binding.

how deep were the facets you were seeing? did you see both the rain and sun crusts? if so, how deep?

Just to sum up the thread:

Dude loses ski due to an unanticipated release.
    Everybody scoffs at Markers
Most pre-releases on Marker Bindings are caused by improperly setting the forward pressure
Not everyone needs Din 16 binders, but bindings perform best in the middle of their DIN range, which these skiers are in
More Douchebaggery, squawking, lemming running, and backbiting by the choirboys

    God this shit gets old.

Hope you find your ski, OP. I also hope all the chirping morons just learn to STFU.

    so..
What about putting a recco reflector on each ski?

You loose your ski(s). go get ski patrol and have them fire up their recco search unit. Good practice for them I suppose...

No, but I guess ski patrol can't be bothered with something like that...

That Recco detector looks pretty bulky and would suck to carry in your BC pack

I think a better idea would be something the size fo a recco reflector that transmits on 457khz so you can use an Avy beacon to find your ski's.

    Kill all the telemarkers
But they’ll put us in jail if we kill all the telemarkers

Ortovox manufactured the Ski Maus. The Ski Maus was mounted on your ski and transmitted on a seperate frequency. The Beacon received 457kHz in standard mode, or could be changed to receive the frequency of the ski maus. SOS has something similar.
