Santiago was rad in his prime. Throwing baserunners out from his knees. I'm sure he juiced when he hit 30 bombs at age 39 or whatever for the Bluegays.
Damn shame, throwing away a perfectly good white boy like that

No, I agree. I was just offering a point. Clemens "financially and legacy wise" will have to defend himself on the basis of protecting his legacy.

The thing is that most people don't care how they got 45 hr's on their team, just as long as they get 45 hrs.

I'm suprised Brady Anderson isn't on that list.

Yeah, but all that means is he didn't get juice from one of the guys interviewed, never did it openly in the locker room, and never talked about it with his teammates or trainers. There's plenty of ways to get this stuff; no question this list is not exhaustive. There's a bunch of guys I was sure would be on this list who aren't.

Anderson's non-inclusion will really bolster his HOF credentials- this is a huge boon* for him, as he's up for election this year.

I haven't read the previous 5 pages of comments, and its probably been said already, but this report is by no means an all-inclusive list. The players named were the ones either called out by the Mets clubhouse guy Radomski, busted buying stuff on the internet, or included in the BALCO case. If you look at the names, a majority of them are east coast guys- ones who could contact Radomski. I'm sure there are several times as many guys actually using HGH or steroids.

Sure its damning evidence if your name is on there, but they can't suspend these guys because a clubhouse worker tattled on them.

"HOUSTON -- Roger Clemens vehemently denies allegations in the Mitchell report that he used performance-enhancing steroids, and is outraged that his name is included in the report based on the uncorroborated allegations of a troubled man threatened with federal criminal prosecution. "

Looks like Clemens isn't going down without a fight......

Of course it's just a game, but it's a game with about 100 years of history that has become the American pastime, and has a HUGE influence on the youth of America, who you apparently feel should continue to recieve the message that it's alright to destroy your body with drugs to achieve an athletic goal. Nice. Just because this is being discussed doesn't mean that we all ignore the problems in the world, or rank this problem above them. Thanks for your worthless post.
edit- you COULD have gone at this from a different angle, and said how it seems a bit odd that congress was taking time to investigate a sport (a while ago), while more pertinent issues went un-dealt with. that I might actually be able to agree with.

You seem to miss the whole point of my message. "It's just a game" and if people wish to cheat and ruin their future health go at it. People who spend their time accumulating weath over health will spend all that wealth to get healthy. How many millions do you think have been spent investigating Bonds and MLB. Bucho! Your welcome on my worthless post, because it's just another post and I apologize it upset you. PINHEAD!!!

The fans don't care. Record attendance this year. Personally I miss the stolen base and hitting for average like Rod Carew but that's another story..

Wow..... If you read my post, I CLEARLY got your message, which is retarded. YOU'RE the one who doesn't get MY point, appparently, which is that the youth of america is getting the message that it's ok to cheat and destroy your body to do so.

No shit. I was referring to a WHILE AGO, when congress called the players and others in to question them.

what a waste of fucking money-except for a few new names that came out via questionable evidence, what new info did they uncover?

I was listening to sports radio yesterday and they were already singing the praises of players that weren't on the list-"they did it the right way"-if anybody actually thinks the only players using anything were on this list...

How the fuck are people surprised by this stuff? The people named in the report represent about 5% of the players who actually juiced. There isn't a single player in baseball you can say definitely DID NOT take steroids (except Casey The Blade).

Didn't the report just say that he took HGH when recovering from an injury in 2003? I think he actually doesn't come off looking too bad.

You shouldn't be mad at the list, but at the idiot Sports Reporters. The list is what it is - a defensible account of people known to have juiced. Eye witness testimony is enough to fry a person on the electric chair, so suing the Mitchell Report (Clemens ) is stupid.

He should have retired years ago anyway.

The one problem I see is that most fans only see the list of names and can't/don't differentiate between the levels of accusation and evidence. Sure there are the people who actually take the time to read the articles and see who's accused of what... but there are also people who put Brian Roberts in the same boat with Clemens. And of course, ESPN is simply broadcasting all the names together, so that doesn't help.

You are right and I agree, however it STILL bothers me quite a bit. Even though it doesn't appear that he juiced a bunch of times over the years, like bonds and clemens and others, I still can't make excuses for Pettitte. He did the wrong thing, and his reputation is likely destroyed. It saddens me.... Hopefully he can rise above it and still pitch this year.

Very pleased with Pettitte's reaction to him being in the Mitchell Report.

"Yankees' Pettitte admits to HGH use."

edit- this doesn't bode well for Clemens' denial tactic. The man Clemens and his lawyer are saying is "troubled" and "gave up names only because he was under the threat of federal prosecution" has just been proven somewhat credible by Pettitte. Not that I thought denial was going to work anyways.......
