Just wondering, why should I stay away from Burton or Rome?

I also wanted to add that there's a Travis Rice 161.5 with a 26 waist width, would that be better than the skunk ape 162 waist width 26.8?

those have different tip profiles. They are designed for powder, not tricks.

Besides that Lib-tech Skunk Ape I was checking out Capita, specifically the MHT 161 and an older model the LCW, they both have 25.9 waist widths so I am not too sure if my size 12s will get some drag or not. What do you guys think about Capita?

Personally, I´m a big fan of Capita park sticks, but there´s no way in hell I´m using mine for freeriding in any sort of gnar terrain. The LCW used to be Tyler Lepore´s pro model, but is phased out. It was an all mountain freestyle board. The MHT is a park/pipe board with an extruded base. Wouldn´t really go either of those routes.

I just ordered a Rome Design 162, which will be my fun-fun pow freestyle stick. Will be too narrow for your boots, but this is an awesome stick nonetheless.

Last season, I had a Rome Flag 160 for a couple of days, and it was a good board, and come to think of it, a decent stick for what you want. Good edge hold, predictable flex, semi-stiff overall, and very doable to ride switch on. Radial sidecut helps a bunch! For you, I´d go 163.

Other than that, just listen to schmoe. I have myself no real experience with Lib, but have never heard a bad word about them either. Skunk Ape has an already good reputation for being fun wide boards!

Thanks Arild, I think it's a toss up for me between the Flag 163 and the Skunk Ape 162.

Skunk Ape if I were you. 162 if you mix in park, 166 if your more all mountain.
From what you said about your ht/wt.

I would like a skunk ape. But I'll prolly settle for my emmagator for the rest of season.

Wide boards suck.. Get the 25.9 or 26.0.

skunk ape 162 for sure. The trs and T. Rice are not quite wide enough.

I ride the skunk ape 162 for fucking around and it's a great board. Wide enough for my 12's, magnetraction for the choppy crud, and a nice smooth flex.

Every board is different, and if you don't know exactly what you prefer I would suggest that you find a shop which will rent you different boards and then deduct all or some of the rental costs from a purchase.

If you're not really ripping then I would strongly suggest staying away from any of the really stiff boards.

Wide boards only suck for people that can't ride them.

For a size 12 the T. Rice is way too narrow. Magnetraction boards measure differently as far as waste width is concerned. The 26.8 on the skunk ape would be more like a 26.2 on a non mag board. The 26.0 on the T. Rice would be more like a 25.6.

I started using Palmer Power Link a few years ago. Imo they really transform a board. I'm riding a Head 161.5 with 245 waiste as my preferred board. I'm a size 9. Both companies, Palmer and Head, promote narrower waiste widths, although, both make some wider boards now. I like Heads strategy of offering the same board in many different width at the same length.

Going off the fact that Magne-traction boards = narrower waist widths. How would a Capita MHT be compared to the skunk ape? Flex? All mountain ridability? etc? The MHT is a twin dierectional so I thought it may work good for my purposes, but I could be wrong as someone stated above it's a park/pipe board, but I talked with a Capita employee who told me that it works great as an all mountain board(they're selling the boards though). The MHT has a 25.9 waist width(which looks good as 4matic posted), EE 1263, side cut 8.2

    07 MHT $200 range
    08 Skunk ape $400 range
Is it worth the extra cash to go with the Lib? I haven't ridden either and can't find a local shop that rents them.

Yes, it´s worth it to go with the Lib. MHT will be more brittle, and too narrow for you.

So, either the 162 Skunk Ape or 163 Rome Flag.

DEMO, it sounds like you are leaning too much on everyone's opinion. Try out the boards yourself and make a choice, everyone riding style is unique....
