    Stuck on Lift

Got on chair 6 at Breck with a frostbite warning in effect. 3 chairs from the top and we get stuck for 50 fucking minutes. It was a shit show in the warming hut; kids with frostbite strewn about the place. Hopefully no lawsuits.

    Yep, that's Breckenfridge all right.

Sorry about that. I bet you're heavily intoxicated right now.

Got stuck on Collins last year for an hour. We were only two chars away from the bottom, the chair behind us was close enouch to jump, but we were stuck hovering above corkscrew for a goddamn hour. But it worked out, we just got real blazed, and yes, in full view of the base and patrol. We figured if they're gonna keep us on the lift, the least they can do is let us indulge!
Skiing, whether you're in Wisconsin or the Alps, is a dumbass hick country sport that takes place in the middle of winter on a mountain at the end of a dirt road.

We actually got 2 vouchers each, so maybe it was worth it. And yes I'm intoxicated.

OK, two guys got stuck on the chair at West Mountain a long time ago, in 0-10 below temps....OVERNIGHT.

The stoner lifties apparently didn't do a sweep.

I never heard what happened, exactly, but I think they got a condo and lifetime passes, or something like that. They never really talked about it. I bet they either strengthened the relationship, or ruined it.

Anyone know more (true outcome) about that incident?

I've been stuck for more than an hour in similar conditions. I didnt get a voucher and I didn't threaten to sue anyone. I also didnt get frostbit because I was dressed for the conditions. Shit happens.

That sucks. You could have MacGyver'ed some poles, skis, and Camelbak tubing together with chewing gum and paper clips to rappel down.

i think that has happened to all of us at least once. I was stuck on stagecoach @ heavenly once for close to an hour. You reach a point(especially w/o greens) where you start contimplating jumping off and hoping your legs wont break on impact.

Not sure what they got, but I remember when that happened. I grew up
5-10 minutes from West Mountain, and actually got my first turns this year there, as I am home visiting. I was actually thinking back to this incident,
and good god, I still can't believe that that happened, at such a tiny ski hill. I got stuck on that same chair, the Triple, with a buddy for about 45 minutes one night years back in a snow storm, and that was bad enough. It's one of the more uncomfortable chairs I've ridden.

I wonder what was going on today at Keystone's River Run gondola. I saw patrollers evacuating people out of the gondola cars today. That must have been fun. Hope they got vouchers.

On Tuesday, the quad next to the Gondola was shut down for maintenance.
