Damn shame. RIP.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.
That's sad.
Man, look at the headlines on the left on that page, I wonder what the timeframe for all of those is.
What's the steepness here?

Cheap gags aside, RIP Dede. Way too many avalanchre deaths this season in the Alps.
major loss - just when it seemed the envelope couldn't be pushed any further, he, Ruby and others moved it to a whole 'nother level. Very sad.

Mark Twight, super extremo climber and one time Cham resident, wrote an article called Chamonix: Over the Top or Under the Ground. He talks about why Cham is the laboratory for pushing limits in alpinism, skiing, parapenting, etc. He also talks about how many grave stones in the cemetary are young men and women who moved their sports forward or died trying. He left with a sour taste for the place.
I have spen a little time in Chamonix and I agree that there is a special energy there, and a very competetive attitude in the air. I don't have the hard feelings that Twight does. I always think of that article when I hear about a pioneer dying young in tthe Mt. Blanc region.
Anyways, it sad that Dede didn't live to be old, fat, and complacent. In my experience, Chamonix is not the place to be if you want that to happen.
