On Saturday SuperBee was stopping, literally, every 50 feet. I was wondering if there was mechanical issues or if an entire kindergarten class was learning to ski that day and muffing the dismount. Hearing it is still stopping frequently, I suspect something may be up with it right now.

Made it up to the basin for some Pali laps before work. Slalom slope was real wind affected and was not the easiest of skiing but still nice in spots. Challenger/ radical kind of area was really good but unfortunately wasn’t open til my last two laps before having to cut out for the work thing. Cold and windy indeed.

So, since Saban retired are we about to have a record year? Or at least no more bad years? Or is it only tied to Bama?

It wasn't that cold or windy today but we need like 20' of snow.

    It's snowing again. Sideways.

I also prefer east. But I'd rather ride in a gondola car than be stuck dangling on superB when it's single digits.

Hopefully, the forecast for a good couple storms over the next several days moves us from thin cover to plenty. The surface snow is great with this cold, just need another couple feet:

Nick Saban just retired. I think that means it's going to snow a lot.

Skiing at Winter Park was better than expected yesterday afternoon. 6" of dense snow was just what the place needed to heal after the holidays. Pano closed for wind/cold. Pio/Vasquez/Spur closed because who knows. Hi Lo closed because it is fucked. Thats kind of a bummer as it is good access to Lunch Rock when the Summit and C Chair are "fuck no".

He admitted that this AM I thought I read.

A buddy said Dgo Weather Guy was calling out Purgatory for over reporting and needing ‘to tell the truth’ and move their weather station.

I was watching a few inches or so on the snow stake for a couple days and Purgatory reported 15” in 24hrs! We got 18” here so not sure what to believe from Purg as to real depth (now claiming 33” base from 21”), especially after riding the chair with a guy who lives a few miles (and lower) from Purg w/8” there. There was definitely good powder, however. Snotel sites almost corroborated Purg’s claim, though there is a long history of not jiving.

I’ve also been surprised with the snow amounts being more than expected many times.

I just found out that he texted me the other day. I don't text, so I have no idea. Haven't heard from him in 2 years. But, he's alive.

Felt great to rip turns down the spine and face. No bumps in Main Street made that ski about as good as it gets. Stellar morning!
