Yeah I saw that too.
Most of those forecasts they reviewed are fairly basic in nature, and I (and others I know) try to dig a bit deeper. Those forecasts are heavily ENSO-based, which tends to be fairly unreliable as a sole indicator.
I wouldn’t call them useless, but I would use them to get a general idea of the way winter will go.
sunny and warm in the mountains today
so if it snows a skinch at genessee today what's the chances of vail resorts throwing down that it's dumping in colorado?
18ºF this morning in Summit. Probably a good night for the snowmakers.

Looks like a pretty severe cool down on the way...the resort social media teams will be busy on thursday.
Hopefully some h2o to dump on salida
Going to throw a guess of 10/17 out there for the basin.
Could be much earlier, especially looking at the current patch and the upcoming storm set to drop 6"+. Could be 10/11 or 10/12. Keystone also has a good amount already made up high, and they might be able to pull it off. Both have upgraded their snowmaking the last few years so who knows?
Either way, I hope the Basin hypes the shit out of it and all the Ikoners and MCs blow their 3, 5, or 7 days while I'm in the desert riding bikes![]()
Yeah curious to see what the early season crowds will be like. If it doesn’t seem too bad I may squeeze in some turns one day before I go to the desert near the end of the month.
basin doesn't have any water to make snow hasn't rained in weeks
the weather/snow report on the radio was so funny this morning
they called it the world snow report and pretty much just mentioned open snow a few times and said it was getting cold and they are making snow
and 2-10 inches thrusday and friday, nice call, how does that work
From Al's blog the other day:
http://arapahoebasin.blogspot.com/20...night-yet.htmlThat was a pretty good night. The wet bulb got down to about 20 F. I think we went beyond just test mode and really made some snow. While I can't call the snow piles or whales yet, we have moved beyond just white spots on the ground. Forecast wise, tonight looks to be very similar to last night. After that we might warm up again, but by mid-week we could see our coldest temperatures yet. With a nearly full reservoir and good streamflow, the outlook for the next week is quite good

^^^ it's called hype and promotion
do you really thing al's going to tell the truth on his blog.....................
Yeah...I doubt Abasin has less stream flow than Loveland, and Lovelands reserviors were all overflowing with steady inflow this weekend.
Source: I walked by them, saw them with my own eyes.
Heavy snow Thursday on LL Pass.
But open snow said........

It's supposed to be 15 degrees in Golden on Thursday night. Glad I was able to winterize my swamp cooler and sprinkler system over the weekend.
Yep
Doing it right now!

We do not have all of our irrigation all blown out yet in Silverthorne. Not good.
