Few inches near tree line at Copper, pretty sloppy below.
Anyone have an opinion on how the Aspen backcountry is for spring 14er skiing?
I'd like to backpack into Snowmass lake and climb/ski Snowmass this year which is usually a mid-late May mission. Would love some insight into timing given the below average snowpack. Thinking late April may the play.
Also, it's a longshot but are there any mags in Southern Colorado with an idea how the snowpack is in the Sangres? I'm guessing it's pretty bleak, but I'm looking to climb Little Bear while there is still snow (or maybe ice) in the hourglass couloir. I won't be skiing down, so I low snowpack is fine so long as there is snow in hourglass.

Fantastic little storm day at LL. 8 and Castle Rock have been $$
Abysmal. I drove through last weekend, the Culebra range was almost totally bare on Thursday afternoon, they got a little snow but it almost entirely melted out by Saturday morning. I only saw the northern part of the range from I-25 but it looked similarly terrible.
Also this is after the range was socked in all day:
Better hope that Monday night storm delivers.

Ridge cat opened - good untracked turns up high.
I spent a lot of time in Alamosa last month, so all I did was look at them, but the Sangres have basically nothing. Can't speak about whether there's anything skiable really high, but there would be a lot of hiking to get there. A good way to get more info might be to go find my thread in the padded room, and PM the people who gave me Alamosa tips, since they may not read this forum but may have more detailed info.

Cool. Thanks man. Again, not looking to ski down there. There's one high coulior that I'm hoping has enough snow or ice to hold loose rocks in place.
