I’ll be at Basin tomorrow if anyone wants to hang out and make bar graphs of the ambient wind speed.

Can’t say I’m thrilled to be headed there this weekend but that’s where the rugrats are racing so thats where I’ll be.
Not a lot of time to explore too much if I’m actually going to watch my kids races but trail map suggests there is lots of tree skiing. Whats the dealio with the upper bowls - inbounds cat, hike, skin?
Not sure if serious or not, but keystone is mainly fun for ripping the groomers.

Paymaster to Haywood is a favorite groomer of mine to rip, because it is long and there are tons of rollers you can get big airtime on.

I don’t think snow will be good enough but the north bowl (5 min hike from outback express) has nice trees and some relatively steep pitches in spots. Otherwise south bowl has a cornice that can be fun to huck if the snow has softened up.

Go devil is a steep groomer on the front that doesn’t see much traffic.

    That’s all I got

Sweet a new gondi just like the gondi that is already there.

Unofficial WP: The Zepher is going in the garage because it is...garbage...to be replaced with another Poma which will most likely be...garbage.

But is doesn't matter because nobody will ride it because everyone hates parking at the Park Side. #bringbackthebusloop.

Is there another ski resort where the "free parking" involves waiting for a bus, getting on a lift, then a 10 minute walk? #poachthewillieshuttle

    Yup, serious.
I've never been there. I have to go there.
Existing commentary on here consists almost entirely of "keep driving and go to A-basin". That is not a viable option.

    So I appreciate the intel..

Keystone == groomers and bumps off of North peak. When it's good, Windows and the Outback can be good. But conditions are not good.

13 Miles and that's the best pic you got? Sounds like something I would do.

That's because it's really the ONLY option.

    Keystone sucks.

North facing trees off the Outback lift at Keystone are decent and steep enough to keep away crowds. No need to hike for most of it (the first few turns are mellow and not worth the effort except to see what it's like). Just traverse in. In general the further in you go the less steep it gets. South facing stuff there is short with a long traverse out.

Independence Bowl can be good. The bottom doesn't connect with the resort so you need to hike out, thus it sees little traffic except for the cat. Bring skins.

Groomers skiers right of the gondola are often oddly uncrowded. If you're lapping this with family don't go all the way to the bottom. Take the chair that starts half way up to avoid crowds and shitty snow.

And don't expect the world. It's Keystone.

Keystone has some rippin fun groomers: Go Devil, Diamondback, Frenchmen, Haywood, Starfire, Bighorn... and night skiing for more carving with fewer people.

Keystone also has some fun little challenging stashes if you know where they are.

On a pow day where Keystone wins the total, it has consistent pitch and tons of trees between runs.

In current conditions, I'd go to the A Basin. And I sure as shit never go to Keystone on a weekend.

I can deal with the bus and even the lift but it annoys me to no end that every resort makes you walk through their stupid fucking village to get on the chairlift.

You'll find lots of what you're looking for here: https://www.frontrangeskimo.com/

Stuff off Cameron in the closest. RMNP and Indian Peaks not much farther. Tons of option depending on how rad you're looking to get.

    From Facebook:

Zephyr is out of commission all summer and they will be putting bikes/riders up Gemini, roll down to Eskimo lift and then lift up Eskimo to the top. I asked them if they would reduce pricing because those lifts will take 30%+ longer and they only hold 2 bikes so the lift lines would increase.....they said "it would be considered in pricing discussions"

I'm not expert on wanking but I usually aim for C lot. I like the idea of riding wagons through the village though.

I wonder if the 3-bike chairs from the Zephyr can be fitted onto the Gemini and Eskimo. They're all Pomas from the 90s so maybe?

dude, it's the gore, you're not allowed to post anything about the gore's that could possibly reveal your location or you subject to flogging, or maybe it was stormy and cloudy all day, so I couldn't see jack squat for the entire day.

Skied WP yesterday. Drove into the MJ lower lot around 10:45, parked right at the south end of the lot, and was at the lift in less than 2 minutes.

Ski-on lift all day, except for one ride up Pano and one ride up Super Gauge.

Midweek seems to still be fine.

    Oh - 1h15m each way door-to-door.

You know... the conditions weren't even that bad. Of course, I'm comparing them to the previous trip to WP, which was the week after New Years.

Didn't you get the memo, there's no more good skiing available in Colorado.

It appears the Texans have found ABasin. Big crowds down low. Empty Pali of course. And amazing new terrain. Really sick.

Let me know if you want to meet up for a tour. I might have some free time if it's not too early in May.
