Well, they tell me there's no more course, the paper tells me there's no more course. Underoos has apparently seen the replacement, so it seems like it is gone.

My kid is going to be really disappointed, since just last night I told her we could go racing on Sunday.

    Wankers.

ETA: I don't care about location or NASTAR branding, I just think it's really short-sighted not to have a simple course somewhere on the hill.

With the guaranteed crowds you're gonna have on Sunday... why not just do the human slalom? Gotta learn it some time... might as well be early.

I'm just pissed, my kiddo is a good skier for being 7, and she likes it a lot sometimes, but hasn't caught the bug. She doesn't ask to go skiing, and sometimes complains about having to go skiing. The race course was something she really enjoyed, that we were hoping to use to get her to catch the bug.

Winter Park offers an uber expensive comp program for the "budding ski racer", if you can shell out over a $1000 and be there every weekend, for a kid who doesn't know if she wants to be a ski racer. Wankers.
You think $1K is expensive for a race program?

It sure is when you compare it to a few bucks a couple times a year to run gates on the NASTAR course.

More Wanker Park bullshit, Sorenson is officially ski and ride school only.

While mini Hatch and I weren't bothered, it's pretty lame that they don't want the pleebs using the magic carpet or rope tow without some beater instructor around.

Exactly. I'm not comparison shopping race programs or evaluating what they offer for the money. What I'm saying is that's a ridiculous barrier to entry when you have a young kid who hasn't experienced racing at all. Those are designed for people who live by the mountain or own a second home, they're not appropriate for weekend warrior that doesn't live/own up there. They're certainly not an acceptable answer when someone says "hey, what happened to the race course".

Yeah, Danno's right, NASTAR is a gateway drug. I did it a bunch at Winter Park when I was a kid, decided I liked racing, and then joined the comp center.

I grew up in the WP race program and I wasn’t much of a racer. Well worth the time and money if you can commit to being up there every weekend. Amazingly my parents did it every weekend day from south Denver for years and years. Though traffic was a different story 30 years ago.

You don't have to play the aspects right to have a good day out on the bike.

    Where'd you ride? What's dry?

I rode Left Hand OHV yesterday and it was mostly fine... a few sloppy sections, but it was SO nice to be riding in shorts and short sleeves.

Matthews Winters, south side of Morrison Slide and Red Rocks Trail. Obviously not the greatest trail to be riding on a Saturday but so nice to be out in T-shirt and shorts.

    Ok - back to snow
    2-28” tonight.

Dropping the Nastar course is nothing compared to how they butchered Drunken Frenchman. And continue to groom Derailer. And "closed" some solid tree stashes.

On the weather front, I left at 3 today and wasn't snowing yet.
