So they are up to 30" on the season now?
They are fucked.

formerly an ambassador for a few others, but the ski industry is... interesting.
Fukt: a very small amount of snow.
Well, it's getting better. Powcam is at 8" right now and still snowing. NFL won't open anytime soon. High lift- well, they've packed it a ton, and I know it's already roped and ready to roll. There might just be enough to open. Will it be good? Not very- surface will be bootpack steps, rocks, and punji trees for the most part.
steambot was pretty fun today

You know it was a good day when you’re still finding untracked and get a big faceshot at 4pm.
Damn I went to keystone today which was kinda a gaper decision but the bowls were damn good. Easily 6 or 7 inches in the outback.
North bowl had the goods in spots. There is some decent terrain back there that I had kinda forgotten about. Nice soft turns all day

Thinking of heading up from the Front Range for a one day trip early tomorrow. Let me know (or anyone else) if interested in carpooling. Or if anyone is already in the area and wants to meet up for some laps. Thinking Highlands but could go elsewhere.
Speaking of Highlands is it worth bringing skins for the bowl?
Figure I'd be leaving early enough that I shouldn't have to deal with traffic (hopefully) and thinking i'll be late enough on the return that it won't be too bad. Definitely some windshield time but tired of the same old resorts and I have one day to burn on my classic pass. Not sure on a day pass these days but sure it isn't cheap.
Sections of that ridge are steep enough they'd be a bitch to skin. Just boot it.
Peak 9 and 10 have gates that lead to some pretty serious terrain as well. I have a buddy that skis Dynafit in bounds because that's what's on his skis, he mostly skis back country and doesn't want to deal with a second pair of skis or swapping bindings. My dad will sometimes ski Dynafit in bounds just because his BC boots are easier to get on and off and are nicer to walk and boot pack in. We'll also usually skin up if we're going back to twin chutes or climbing the ridge above twin chutes, not necessary but makes the walk a little nicer. I'm on tele so my choice of gear for optimal down just happens to be the same for optimal up. re air bags, I'll sometimes ski with a beacon and if I'm going out of boundsfor a couple laps I'll pack a shovel and probe, haven't worn my air bag in bounds but if you don't mind the extra bulk why not? People do go for unexpected rides in bounds, I think it was two years ago peak 7 ripped out on someone.
Yeah and there was a big slide involving several people on whales tail a few years ago as well. So the airbags could make sense but still seem very unnecesary
