formerly an ambassador for a few others, but the ski industry is... interesting.
Fukt: a very small amount of snow.
I was on Ajax till noon and then took the wife to Snowmass.
I’ll send you s PM.
Get ready for another "storm" that could drop up to 3-6 inches of snow and 0.25 inches of SWE across the highest elevations of the state. They throw up advisories and storm warnings around here like it's fucking South Carolina.
Just like the last storm, it is coming in warm. Should make for some pretty interesting road conditions tomorrow morning.
Already flurries in Snowmass. Really warm and the bike trails are slicker than shit.
Copper has the two Copper bowl lifts open and a few of those runs. I’m quite surprised. How is coverage back there?
Upslope on tap. Nice thick fog from Floyd Hill down to Lookout Mtn exit.
Nothing up high. 29 and clear coming over Berthoud.
11 pm bsb cam showing about 2". Hoping that thing buried by breakfast.
4" report at Vail and 3-4" now since the report and still snowing. The snow is pretty dense, so it's shaping up to be a nice storm day. Windy, too, so free refills in the right spots.
Edit to add: Photo from yesterday shows some spots to avoid. Shark infested waters.![]()
Another dud of a storm for our area. This winter blows.

Well, the good news for me is that I've never wanted to ride a bike in May. 2nd best month for skiing and all...
I keep thinking about the spring skiing in '11-'12. As crappy as that winter was, it was a good spring. It never did snow, even in the spring, but the upside was that there was never a dust storm either, and the steeps didn't just get schmooed out after a late spring storm. So it was great even though everyone else was riding bikes. Fingers crossed that we have a silver lining spring.
Got back into town yesterday and decided to go skiing today.
Nice 6 inches of creamy, moderately dense snow at ABasin. Good base building snow, and heavy enough that it covered up any crust underneath.
Still pretty thin in the trees. I hit a fatass downed tree and ate shit hella hard.
Agreed that this is great base building snow. Definitely on the denser side, hopefully this snow can help cover some of the sharks.
I was at Breckenridge on Thursday and was pleasantly surprised with the conditions of what was open, with a few exceptions. The Lake Chutes and some of the other runs off of that ridge had incredibly punchy snow. Skiing it was fine but that area needs some serious skier compaction.
I can attest that sharks were definitely NOT covered anywhere around the Basin. All these storms keep hitting on the weekend so snow is immediately scraped off by the crowds. Good year to own a ski repair shop.
WP skied well this morning. Starry skies at 11pm last night, 6-8” by morning when lifts opened. Cold and wind (and bad roads) seemed to keep a lot of people away. Skied untouched for two hours before heading back to the FR.
