Funky wind slabby snow up high today. Still nice to stretch the legs after the week I've had.

Have hit powder in September and October but also can be nothing. For the white ribbon of death Arapahoe basin and Loveland might be open. From the history it looks like Abasin has opened as early as 10/9 but more typically late October.

Check the conditions before you come but I wouldn't make expensive plans in advance based on hoping for good conditions.
This seems to be the general consensus. Thanks all - I think the recommendation to go the week between Christmas and New Year's was a solid one

Snow stake is looking pretty impressive since they cleared it this morning.

What's the deal with the free parking on Wednesdays at Highlands? Their site mentions something about getting a sticker from the Aspen parking office. True, or is it free for everyone? Will be there tomorrow, free parking would be a bonus.

It's free on Wednesdays and everyday after 12:00pm and you don't need a sticker unless something has changed recently.

    Today was good.

How hard could it get hit and it wouldn't matter even if it did, it's still dumping.
Might want to bring a change of clothes.

There was a bit of a wind chill out there today. Another reason to stay/slay in the trees. So good.

Pretty reactive wind slabs in the park this morning. Stupid cold with the wind in open areas. Low angle trees kind of day for sure. We were able to kick a couple sloughs off along the steeper sections of the skin track without trying too hard

The wind was doing work today at Berthoud. Found some really good turns in N facing and very sheltered pockets below treeline, but things are starting to get a little reactive. Some cracking under foot, but nothing moving. Most of the alpine is wind-hammered.

I headed up to Snowmass yesterday, between 15-25" of snow, anything with a slight N touch skied amazing, everything E was loaded.

Nope, my first time skiing there in over 22 years of living in CO. I've never been able to justify the ticket since I've always had a pass elsewhere.

Yeah, great vibe and awesome mountain! Pretty easy drive actually. Took me just over 2 hours each way from Dillon. Bit of a shitshow on 22 where it loses a lane by the airport but no worries. Stoked to have one more day there on my Mtn Collective pass.

Will Highlands? It seems to shift from Ajax to Snowmass to Highlands...
