Super high density snow. Keystone got 18"+ since 4PM yesterday, but high temps and high wins meant it skied like 8" of thick wind affected pow on all the rope drops. (Then the gondola shut down due to winds and I-70 showed up, long lines, I left). Almost went to Vail, maybe I should have for BSB.

Let's say I'm super happy Mr. Plow took care of most of my driveway because the deck and stairs and sidewalks were a lot of work these last few.

This storm should get Keystone and Abasin to almost all of their terrain open just as soon as patrol can get to bombs, cuts, pads and boo. Lots of ropes dropped today (Keystone patrol was working ahead) patrollers were busting their butts all over. I bet they'll have everything open except East Wall by Thursday. Breck will open T-bar.

*MAYBE* Loveland will open one green run on chair 6? By Thursday?

Blue sky is no longer opening today. Still have a wind hold on 9 and east.

Drove down from Eldora today at ~10:15. The entire shelf road was stopped cars, backed up to the high school. The resort had one dude trying to get cars around an un-plowed 180 degree turn up into the top parking lot. If you were in that mess, I'm sorry.

They reported 12", skied like 3". One of these years they will figure out how to operate a ski resort. I guess I'm just here to complain about shit.

Very easy to do when it comes to Eldora.

Fun day at vail with very wind affected snow. The report was 3 inches but it skied a lot deeper on the right aspects.

Ricky's ridge was the best. Really nice over there. Huge ass line at chair 5 after 2 runs so I skied the frontside for the rest of the day.

Not bad. Wind was really blowing on the back

    Berthoud today was good powder.

    As usual someone pushing it:

Then total shitshow at parking lot with johnny law blocking the entrance to the lot and then yelling at people who stopped to drop off hitchhikers on the road. What does he expect people to do with hitchhikers if they can't get into the lot?

I think that he was ticketing and or having cars parked on the road towed but he was making it worse by blocking the entrance. I guess that he thought the cars should have just kept going and taken the hitch hikers down to Winter Park or something. Or more likely he just didn't think it through or was pissed off at the whole scene. He was bellowing at cars dropping off hitchhikers - stopping in the turn lane to get into the lot or just after the lot in no parking spots.

Nasty wind this AM at Copper, but west side of hill was a little deeper and lots of blue run ropes dropping. Driving away from the a-basin / keystone parade on 6 was a treat. Yippee !

Holy shit highline skied amazing. Wind pretty much completely hid all traces of moguls. Was skiing full speed. Never seen the wind buff it out that smooth before.

Keystone was pretty good today; as mentioned above, skied like less than it was due to the heavy snow, but I went out for seconds around 230 and there were lots of soft turns to be had. Patrollers working their asses off opening new terrain all day. Looks like they'll basically have the whole frontside open soon, and they claim they'll have all 3 mountains open by next weekend.

Steamboat was good overall today. Morning gondola line was nuts, and pretty much everyone went to storm peak. Skied well in the am, trees were good. Heavy snow made great cover, but once it got skied out a little it got really chopped up real fast. Felt the carbon hybrid construction in my protests a little. Good day, though I'd say I had more fun at Breck on Friday

Ended up at the Stone today, probably the first day in over a decade where I went to Keystone on a pow day. Not bad from 8:30 to 9:30. Crowds of douchebags of epic proportions from 9:30 to noon, left and went to bar. Holy fuck! There was still people coming in droves. Traffic backed up for miles. WTF is wrong with you people?

I'm sure no one cares but WP was dreamy today. About 10" overnight, not that windy, and lots of rope drops. Good to be back at the Jane.

I keep thinking I'm dummy for not getting an Eldora pass. Things like this report remind me why it's the right decision.

Highlands was a sleeper pow day. 4" report and snowed maybe another 5" and nobody there. Bowl didn't open (by 1 at least) so that should be $$ today. Still would have liked it to dip another 5 degrees but it kept most people home.

Vail just closed most of the back b/c some idiots were ducking ropes during patrol blasting of Gengis. Fucking morons.

That said, there are some nice deep untouched spots out there.

Who the fuck decided it was a good idea to ski that face yesterday? Jesus sometimes I wish Colorado law forced anyone purchasing AT equipment to also be Avy-1 certified at the least...

I think there are a lot of level 1's that would do that

It's not winter until someone triggers Rush or Nitro!
Good luck with that legislation BP, good luck. That's failure in common sense, not Avy1.

Curious why you think that is?

Lift Gully is right around 38*, has a major convexity, and is an obvious historical path and is generally windloaded. It faces ENE and is near treeline, and the avy report warned specifically about steep slopes at those elevations and aspects yesterday. All of these are things that are discussed in a L1 class.

I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just wondering what you think a L1 class is missing that L1 graduates would make the decision to ski terrain like Lift Gully yesterday?
