I'll be up there on Saturday I think. Revisiting the summer classics. Skied dead dog today. Pretty nice snow... was fun slarving down the runnels like spines, and there was a nice long mostly smooth patch too to the right of the huge groove. Summitted around 9, clouds blocked the sun most of the time.

skied Tuning Fork this morning. Skier's left side was much nicer at 8:15 than the right due to shading (apparently it actually froze last night). It's definitely getting a lot shorter, but still plenty of good snow to ski.

For sure. Had a great visit to the county recently. The old timers dragged me around. Hiking & skiing, skiing & boating, boating & fishing.

Skied tomorrow's whitewater and floated yesterday's corn. We were callin' it "Summer Solstice Recreation Derangement Syndrome". Too much sun, too much fun. Snow was mostly smooth corn.

June is a damn fine time in Colorado.

that's over now, getting hotter; that is.

this week, the 3rd week of july; we start losing about 10 minutes of daylight a week. you wont start feeling the difference until nearly September, but the sun's max time it can roast you is on a decline and picking up speed for here until next ski season. the sun may still fry you before sept but just laugh at it, it's time is passed for the year.

The last few nights have been a little chilly up here. Mid 40's maybe? Haven't had to close the windows, but I was watching a movie wearing a sweatshirt the other night. It's been a brutal summer... Got to be at least eight, maybe even nine days in the high 70's. Hit 82 one afternoon. I can count the 80 degree days since we moved in on one hand. Rain this afternoon - bring on the monsoon!

It'll be warm, then colder, then it will snow.

Just spent a few days/nights camped at 11,600' under the Crestone Needle. Perfect weather there. Not too cold for camping, and not too hot during the day during hiking. The Sangres are fucking amazing.

A few pics - there were climbers on the Ellingwood Arête (2,000' center line of Needle) that were amazing to watch:
