Yesterday and today were extremely fun, however there was a snirt sighting. Very light but it's there.

Golf was outstanding, thanks... 65 and sunny, light breeze... Played the Meadows 9 at Fox Hollow which was actually in really good shape. Got hooked up with 3 others on foot and even played reasonably well - 5 over, which I will totally take for my second 9 since October. Took the dogs for a hike this afternoon... Good times. Looking at skiing tomorrow... have to go collect the shit from my locker for my trip south this week. Looking forward to 6 slushy days with good friends, good weather, good weed, and good beer.
WTF happened to the NOAA site?
Also, I normally could search for weather on Loveland, Vail and Berthoud Passes. Now it doesn't have that available....
NOAA site looks the same to me... you can click the map (single click, double click zooms in) to get a point forecast for anywhere, then bookmark it.
?? Looks the same to me too and I still get Loveland Pass in a point search
Forecast ? It's warm. Anything else ?
I always just enter "Loveland Pass" or "Berthoud Pass" in the search box and get a forecast, no need to use the map. And just checked, it still works.

"everybody's got their hooks into you, fuck em....forge on motherfuckers, drag all those bitches across the goal line with you." - (not so) ill-advised strategy
I don't know what happened, now it's working. Somehow my bookmark suddenly starting taking me to the NOAA site, not the actual weather.gov site. Fixed it.
Yes, looks warm![]()
Meh, who cares? Window to go ski cool stuff in the bc.
^^^ I don't think I've EVER seen it 100% green, in any month - usually even in the spring at least one zone will be yellow for a wet avalanche problem. Only been looking since 2007 though.
I know there were a few days the last couple years where all but one or two zones went green, including this Jan. I may have missed an all green day in there though, or just can't remember shit in my old age.
Never seen all green since I started paying attention.
Then again, I've never seen an "extreme" day either.
While the prospect of going where your heart desires is tempting unfortunately it just means the snow is gonna suck. Skied the San Juans last week. Yellow on the website but in practice pretty much all green with a couple wet slide exceptions on south faces. It was fun to know you could go wherever you wanted to but it was depressing to know the snow was going to suck when you got there. Don't get me wrong, super fun time skiing but I'd take a deep orange day over a green day mid winter any day. Save the green for spring.
I remember seeing an extreme in either 10/11 or 11/12... can't remember which or maybe it was 08/09? Def one of those 3
Yup, most likely 07/08. Know Gunnison had 4 to 5 feet on the level in February, as all the 4 wire fences were buried.
Was mad as hell after driving through there to get to Telluride claiming the most snow ever, and Gunni had more than them on the mountain.
However will always remember it as the best Superbowl, watching the Giants beat the Pats in a bar up on the mountain. Pat fans reaction was priceless!
Feb of that year was my first trip to CB. We had debated doing Telluride but decided on the easier drive.
I was completely awe struck when we got to town and there were head height walls of snow between the sidewalk and the street. Hadn't seen that since my Mammoth days. Thought I'd found the holy grail of Co, haven't seen it since. Still the best mountain/town around.
Monarch scoring 15
Breck saying 7 but it looks like most of that was yesterday daylight according to snow stakecam

It's all about finding the right aspects right now,. I got to ski the e face of Gothic outside CB on Sunday, in pow conditions. I'll take that all day over skiing the same old mid winter glades on an orange day. I'm kind of glad this storm was a no-show.
I can think of a couple of black days in CB over the past 10 years. Some big trees in the middle of the flat Slate river valley floor got taken out by slides, so "extreme" was pretty apt.
