Meh... usually we get something like this in Jan (Dec last year?). We always get one, just a little later this year. Like all ridges, it'll break down and we'll get back to regular storms before we hit the real spring. In the meantime, I'll enjoy the increased stability on southern and western slopes.

Last year was warmer. Played a lot of golf in December, and a ton in the end of January and February (thanks a lot Benjamin). This has generally been a better snow season around here, and I seem to recall that a serious spring has been predicted.

And with that in mind, everyone should be aware that the ski season at ABasin is in fact over. Everyone should switch to bikes and golf clubs effective today. If you see any double digit snow reports coming from eastern Scummit, it's obviously because AB finally hired Breck's marketing department. Move along, nothing to see here.

The blue sky snow stake showed a good accumulation of pine needles from 1-5pm today and then repositioned itself to look straight down.

As far as snowpack goes, even north aspects around 11k were getting sloppy. Got some decent pinwheels going. I wonder how high it rained tonight.

Mostly wind blown and not real slabby. That being said, you can tell the bald spot is loaded. Quiet morning.

Today last year I was riding PBR in the morning at 18Road in short sleeves and shorts. Stopped at the lot for lunch, ate some boomers and rode my face off. Course they have snow on all the trails around there today this year.

All of the trails have snow on them, all except one, the most beautiful one of all, ride the trail, to the end of time.

Slight breeze at Monarch last night.
A wind episode Thursday night at Monarch Pass recorded a gust out of the west at 148 mph, according to the National Weather Service. That beats out a 147 mph wind gust recorded in Boulder on Jan. 25, 1971

I got around traffic pretty well this AM, but man, I've never been at the Basin where the lifts stopped so much. Even Pali lift on every ride!

Definitely full on spring. Crusty snow in the AM, clouds built up bigger and bigger towards 1pm. El Niño, come back!!

    How was golf?
