Just a gross weather day today. Tried to go out for a tour but yuck. Gimmie some sun.

It was perfect conditions to rip the greens with the kiddo.

Well that was a harrowing fucking drive home from Powderhorn. (Which would be a fun spot to catch a powder day at.)
Snow stakes in Vail and at Love aren't showing much, but it's blowing like wild so tomorrow should be fun. I would be back up if I hadn't just spent 10 hours behind the wheel trying to get home.
Leaving Vail my SO pointed out that mr. sedan in front of us was from Texas. Three miles from the top he fucked himself as we cruised by in a civic hybrid with only M/Ss.
Fuckin' A do I miss my AWD van with snows. Need to get a fuel pump in her ASAP.
What did you expect? You are the fail.

I'm the fail? Because I was perfectly safe and in control the whole way home without obstructing traffic. Tonight didn't require 4x4/AWD and snows, just required a modicum of snow driving skills.
Or is it reference to Vail? I don't know any way home from Grand Junction that doesn't require I70.
Powderhorn's just a strange choice for a Denverite. Yikes, 10hrs instead of 4-4.5.
How was it with the new HSQ?
You can take 50 to 285 to go grand junction to Denver if 70 looks like a shitshow. Gunny and Fairplay probably wouldn't improve the wind and blowing snow concerns.

Was at Powderhorn due to free days on the Loveland pass. I got to ski Valentines day in exchange for SO getting to drink wine and whiskey around Palisade all day Saturday.
Quad is quite nice. With fresh snow, I think that place could be a lot of fun. Tons of playful features. Good vibe too.
Had zero weather pre-Vail, traffic was all green until we were east of Eagle. Just poor timing.
It was the typical both. I think the warmth beforehand added to the slickness. Not saying it was a surprise, just relaying what it was like up there. As someone who usually skis Loveland / Berthoud the Vail pass craziness was a new shit-show for me.
Should be good out there today with all the wind transport.
There's lots of new snow and people are in this thread bitching about I70?![]()
What is up with this rain shit?
I would rather get road head while everything went to shit.
Can we keep the fucking spoilers a few sentences down so they don't show in the goddamn page view.?
Triple digit wind gusts on Monarch Pass and Ajax summit.
Wind is absolutely cranking up here right now. Broke another anemometer so I can't give you a number, but experience would tell me we're gusting in the low 100's... 104-105 or so. It's not even dark out yet... We could be in for a wild night!
vortex paradise I guess.......waist deep wind loading and it snowed all day.

For the last hour or so it's seemed like things might be dying down a little, but it's definitely caught another gear. I won't leave without the chainsaw tomorrow AM. We could break new ground up here tonight... The current record in my time here is 141mph in November of 2011. We'll see.
I think the most amazing thing about the improvements to the house is how contained the drama is. There's a little wiggle that becomes noticeable around 100mph. It increases a little as it gets up into the 120s... The loudest gust I've heard in ages just hit the house and there was basically no difference. Not sure what we're getting right now, but the mid 130's would not surprise me. Just had an incredible gust, but it hit the house right on the SW corner and the place basically didn't move at all.

Don't know... I do know that while we're in a region that's 130 rated, about a third of the county is 180 rated. Wishing them luck.
The last time we had wind like this, it picked up a friend's solar panel array and threw it 250'.
We all had plenty of firewood though!
