Grapple,Graupel, grapple, it's used many ways apparently, computer auto spell check, no like the word. I don't live in the big city, I'm minutes from what ever. Ski at nine am, home by ten, work two hours, in the the river by three pm, beer by six. what can I say, not everyone is a transplant. Weather moving in, should be freshies for the next three days.

Huge water total numbers predicted for East WY out of this thing. Will be an interesting weekend.

We had a blast today, our pits had some activity so we took it mellow, tomorrow might be a little more dicey with the added weight of the new snow on the top might make for some pretty heavy wet slabs for a couple days.

About 6-8" at Berthoud this morning. Big day (for how out of shape I am right now), starting with Mines, then across the road to North Chutes, XYZ and Corner Pocket. We had different conditions each lap. Mines was probably the fastest pow I've skied in a long time. So good. North Chutes was dense but a blast. XYZ was sloppy wet hot pow. Corner Pocket had a thin ice lens on it you could ride through and send shards everywhere. Lots of wet cohesion too. Such a good day. Bluebird with clouds coming in and out in the morning, and started nuking around 2pm. Was REALLY warm in the morning. Could've skinned without a shirt for a little.

Also, its pretty saturated right now. Could get a bit sketchy with more weight or could bond really well. Depends what the temps do.

about 10" of pow up in RMNP. Skiied HV all day with no one else around. Nuked all morning than cleared out and got warm. No sun tho. It was weird and awesome. Pow was fast and buttery smooth.

This is almost certainly a stupid question, but is A-Basin typically crowded on May weekend pow days?

Thinking of getting in the car tomorrow morning...

I think it'll probably be reasonably crowded tomorrow, being the only open resort and on the epic pass. (And the pow - stingy season). Last couple pow days it wasn't too bad, but still pretty busy. Course it is Mothers day, so who knows.

I'd leave really early in the morning, 5ish depending on where you are. Is i70 still closed at IDS? For roadwork or rock cleanup? Going to be a mess, probably already is.

    That's My opinion anways.

I would have been coming from the west, so I-70 isn't much of an issue. Decided to abort after only 6" in the report which was probably the right call, I talked to a buddy who went and he said it was insanely crowded.

I just got back. This morning, I was at the top of the pass at 8:50 and halfway down the West side, it was bumper to bumper - backed up as people were waiting to get into the Last Chance lot. I missed out by maybe 50 cars & ended up driving to Keystone (to take the shuttle).

A large majority of the additional hordes seemed to consist primarily of snowboarders of the clueless variety. Also, I've never seen such a line at the day pass windows.

The snow was great, but it felt more like 3". Lindahl is right ... time to not be such a lazy shit and get the skins out.

Beavers was good this morning. Got 3 laps in and finished the day off with that face that's 2x lookers left of Dave's Wave. Surprised I never skied it before. Pretty fun. I like it better - steeper and direct fall line to the valley floor. Anyone have a name?

Exactly when and where was it? Two people and I searched ~20 mins for a lost ski in that area today (and finally fucking found it). Shovels were out at one point. Just wanna make sure you weren't thinking of us.

We were at the base of North Chutes, time was probably about noon.

"Sunday PM a backcountry rider was caught in an avalanche in Current Creek/Bert Pass. Sustained minor injuries " is what CAIC has

A dude on FB said R1D1 in Current Creek Bowl, ENE 40* path at 12,000', 150yd wide ran 40yd with 8-12" crown. Two caught, one had a knee injury and was evacuated by Grand County SAR. I have no idea of the accuracy of those facts.
