I know Colorado has had seasons with lower snow than this, but this is probably the worst season I've experienced in a long time. Sure, there was snow(months ago). But the lack of continuous storms and warmth has just been too much. It's definitely the warmest winter for me by far. El Nino is the anti-Ullr.

It's been a strange pattern with long dry spells and then intense storm cycles. But no El Nino is really happening. We are doing pretty good on SWE considering and there's been lots of opportunities to ski backcountry lines that normally aren't mid winter picks due to the warmth. Next year maybe we can get the ridge/trough pattern to flip-flop.

Low 60's in ECO Sun-Tues. Guess it is time to clean the dog poop.

11-12 was a much worse winter. I was able to summit Longs in tennis shoes on the 1st of June that year. The previous year, (10-11, a much better snow year) I was able to ski almost continuously from the Keyhole to the trailhead in mid-May.

How many of these "worst" seasons do we need before you complainers move elsewhere?

It's a weird year. Outside of the 3-4 big storms for each area, it's been hot and dry for weeks. Not a bad year, just below average.

With all the El Nino chatter in the fall, it actually turned into more of a La Nina pattern with a Pacific ridge and a NW flow through the area. Main storm track is too far NE to make a difference. Generally the same pattern since 11/12, just last year we lucked out since we were just on the edge of the NW flow.

This is my assessment as well. I don't remember the exact numbers, but in Denver, I think around half of January was in the 60's, with a few 70 degree days. A fair bit of "winter rain" as well - even some rain events in the mountains, up to 11-12,000 feet.

I still had fun - and plan on having a good bit more fun on snow before summer is really here - but it's been less than ideal and certainly interesting.

Its been neither shitty nor awesome. Just middle of the road with some great days in between and some weird patterns. Can't really complain and there's some time left in the season with a pretty good base everywhere.

The North wasn't very good this year.

CO's had the best season, because of altitude.

Yeah, winter is over, tell your friends. Time to start golfing.

I'll be out enjoying the snow for three more months.

    Where? California? PNW?

I mean, you can bitch all you want, but imagine if you moved to Tahoe three years ago.

I bikes about 5K miles in the last year (Denver/Boulder). Lots of winter days in the 60's and even 70's. Crazy.

everyday should be epic powder rainbows unicorns and bluebird skys yup

don't know what all the complaining is about, solid base so far, just below average, guess every year should be above average like your fucked up kids, go ahead and write winter off, pretty sure we'll keep getting some storm cycles all the way up until memorial day, by then you'll be on some golf bike lawn care forum bitching about how that isnt' working out like it should be

spring skiing in full effect and very nice too

Depends on where you were in CO this year. While '11-12 was much worse, this is the second worst winter I've experienced in Crested Butte (20 years). The San Juans were pretty skunked this year, too. Summit county seemed like it was probably pretty close to average, on the other hand.

All those ads promised me snow. Anybody in for some class-action?

It's been ok this year. And not having to shovel snow all the time has not sucked.

Don't know what everyone on this page is bitching about. While we have not had an epic season, the skiing has been pretty good all winter (In Summit / Eagle CO at least)

We have probably had the best winter out of any state in the west. Everywhere else has been shit this winter. Maybe jackson has had about as much snow as us but everywhere else has been skunked.

Less than 100 inches snowfall this season at some Tahoe resorts.

Count your blessings, and don't forget how awesome april in Colorado can be. April can get deep up high.

I thought this was a thread to discuss weather? Isn't that what everyone has been doing?
